About this ebook

The Light in Darkness is a collection of poems that germinated out of the need to provide suitable material for the many performing groups that Williams has worked with since 1973 to the present.

The poems border on his life's experiences as well as on the lives of the people he interacted with.

Life has have been hard and many times blindingly dark. The poems touch some of these dark places, but we are not to despair because behind each dark cloud, there is a silver line.

The collection is Caribbean flavored, served on a spiritual platter.

Ike Williams

Ike Williams was born Jamaica nearly a decade before the island gained its independence from Britain in 1962. He considers himself fortunate to have experienced life in both colonial and post-colonial Jamaica. These experiences have molded in him a rich and unique understanding of life. It has also provided for him the ability to draw upon the diverse cultural narratives that both the post and pre-independent Jamaica have woven into his creative matrix. After teaching for nearly 10 years in Jamaica, he migrated to the Bahamas, where he now lives and works. Email address : jike1353@gmail.com
