When a man has passionately loved the Lord and His Word and has dedicated his life to serving Him for decades, I am interested to hear what he has learned. This book is the heartbeat and passion of such a man tied to a lifetime of ministry. I found this book to be very practical in today’s culture and I highly recommend it. I applaud LaMarr for his insightful study and boldness to present Biblical truth in a day when truth is challenged on every corner.

God provides! Included in that all inclusive statement is that God provides the freedom to choose. Choices in life always have consequences. Our choices will determine our consequences on earth and in eternity. Pastor LaMarr Pirkle shares scriptural based truths to make the right choices. The Christian walk is a process of drawing nearer to Jesus Christ to reflect His likeness in our words, deeds and decisions. This book provides the road signs and directions that allow us to reach that destination. Just as a street light can illuminate the road ahead, Pastor Pirkle’s work can shed scriptural light to navigate some of life’s most important choices.

Mother’s Translation of the Bible
There is a story about four clergymen who were discussing the merits of the various translations of the Bible. One liked the King James Version best because of its simple, beautiful English.
Another liked the American Revised Version best because it is more literal and comes nearer the original Hebrew and Greek.
Still another liked Moffatt’s translation best because of its up-to-date vocabulary. The fourth minister was silent. When asked to express his opinion, he replied, "I like my Mother’s translation best. The other three expressed surprise. They did not know that his mother had translated the Bible.
Yes, she did, he replied,
She translated it into life, and it was the most convincing translation I ever saw.

Also, I would like to thank God for the support of my wife during these past remarkable ‘Fifty Years’ of marriage, along with our very precious son and daughter, who have provided us with six wonderful grandchildren.
image1.jpgIntroduction
Ever since I was a child, there was built within me a respect and admiration toward older adults that were wise and who inspired others with their wisdom.
Once someone asked me, what one person did I feel had contributed the most or had the greatest impact upon my life. At which I replied, "If I were to answer you properly and truthfully, I would have to begin by writing the names in a notebook starting with my mother, family, Sunday school teachers, pastors, neighbors, school teachers, coaches, friends, military leaders, college professors, and the list continues. However, the Bible, God’s Holy Word, has had the most powerful influence in my life. Therefore, it is my desire to introduce this book, as one in which will hopefully provide the reader with three thoughts: (1) where you started, (2) where are you presently and (3) where are you projecting to finish? From birth to the grave, we are either projecting to reach goals and anticipating a brighter future, or wasting the life God has given us. If we travel the road to failure, we tend to make excuses in order to better substantiate why we failed. A man can fail many times and still succeed, but he isn’t a failure until he blames something or somebody else for a failed life. We are all manufacturers……some make good, others make trouble, and still others make excuses. In defining the noun form of Excuse, It is a reason or explanation put forward to defend or justify a fault or offense.
Billy Sunday said, An excuse is a skin of a reason stuffed with a lie
.
An old proverb……. Don’t do what you’ll have to find an excuse for.
Robert Brault said, There are no such things as a list of reasons. There is either one sufficient reason or a list of excuses.
Have you ever heard someone say, The Devil made me do it
(made popular by Flip Wilson), or perhaps other excuses such as… ‘If I would have been born in a different era of time’, or ‘If I had lived in a different geographical location’, or ‘If I had married a different person’, or ‘had chosen a different career field’, and etc.
Marcus Stroup said, There aren’t nearly enough crutches in the world for all the lame excuses.
We are wise to eliminate excuses, stop the Blame Game
and allow God’s Word to assist us in making good choices.
God’s Word provides mankind with the pure truth for structuring our lives. God has given us freedom to make choices. Good choices are easier to decide on, when children are raised by sound Christian parents (a few Scripture references – Proverbs 13:24, 22:6, 29:17; Deut. 4:9, 6:6-9).
God not only gives us choices, but the consequence of each one. He has given us the perfect freedom to choose. The rest is up to us. If God removed all bad choices from us, we would have no freedom at all. We would be nothing but robots. God created us with the freedom of choice. Therefore, when we refuse to read God’s Word or reject His guidance, we may be likened to one to whom buys something in a box that needs to be assembled, and who fails to read the instruction manual prior to assembling the item. Always remember that the B-I-B-L-E should be known as, Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth
.
In defining the verb form of…. Manufacture, (in terms of thinking) it is to concoct, create, devise, fabricate or formulate, theorize, speculate or suppose in our minds, something that is not necessarily factual or real. The only way to discern between truth and error is to compare it to the absolute truth in God’s Word.
Problem, defined – a source of perplexity, distress, or vexation. Thus, many varied problems exist, such as: Racism, sexism, financial, health, and family. This can cause us to worry or fret.
It is my desire and prayer, as you read this book, God will allow you, the reader, to fix your eyes upon the only true Sovereign God, who He and He alone, can make your life worth living.
Man has always created trouble, just as seen in the Garden of Eden. A few road signs that could prove valuable, along life’s highway, and not be disregarded, are as follows:
– There is only one true God
– Everything He created was good
– God is The Infallible Truth
– Satan is a Liar and the father of all Liars
– There is a Heaven to gain and a Hell to shun
– God is the author of Peace and Salvation
– Christ came and died that we might have life
Men are not sinners because they choose to sin; they choose to sin because they are sinners.
– Walter J. Chantry
Sin is not just breaking God’s laws; it is breaking His heart.
– Adrian Rogers
Our love for God and our appreciation of His love and forgiveness will be in proportion to the recognition of our sin and unworthiness.
– Dave Hunt
CHAPTER
I
In the Beginning….God
Nothing could be more irrational than the idea that something comes from nothing.
– R. C. Sproul

Darwinism’s atheism prevents science from knowing why things are as they are. Without God there is no answer to the WHY for anything.
– Dave Hunt
If there is no beginning, there can be no end. Therefore, everything has a beginning, as well as each of us. Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is none like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,’ Calling a bird of prey from the east, The man who executes My counsel, from a far country. Indeed I have spoken it; I will also bring it to pass, I have purposed it; I will also do it
(Isa. 46:9-11).
The purpose of the Genesis account is to establish God as Creator. In Hebrews 1:10, we read, And you, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands
. It was never intended to be a scientific explanation of how he accomplished creation. The Bible is not a science textbook. The scientist searches for the What and How of life’s questions, where the Bible addresses the Who and Why behind those questions.
From the inception of man, he has attempted to psychoanalyze God and therefore, man either worships God or else he attempts to idolize another god and puts himself in the place of God.
Two of the most basic elements of human existence are the uncertainty of life and the fact that death is inevitable. Even for those who think death ends it all, it is only logical to examine what may lie after death and give some serious attention and preparation before it may be forever too late. Someone remarked…. Eternity is forever and forever is a very long time
.
My advice to the self-proclaimed Atheist is read the Gospel of John 1:1-3, which says, In the beginning was the Word (Jesus), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God
. In Colossians 1:16, For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him
.
"To reverence the impersonal creation instead of the personal God who created us is a perversion designed for escaping moral accountability to the Creator. God indicts those who worship the creation instead of the
