About this ebook

Many poems seem to create themselves with verses and thoughts falling into place. I constantly offer to read a poem to anyone nearby. I give poems away to cashiers or anyone waiting in line. I try to keep poems with me when I am in any setting available. I often have several poems in a folder and have made many new friends by just giving them a poem. I have a lot of people who look forward to my next poem. A lady who is always looking forward to my next poem once told me that she gives each one to her church. These poems are given freely to anyone who wants it. A lady in the grocery store asked if I remembered her. She said I read her a poem in the grocery store once as she came home from visiting her mother in the hospital. She gratefully reminded me of the peace she found from my poem.

I began writing poetry and songs after retiring from the US Air Force serving at the facility in San Antonio Texas. My military career included one year in the US Marine reserves then went to spend twenty years in the Air Force. After writing that first poem my writing had no end. I began writing songs and poetry. The songs carried me to the NSAI Critique Session in Pineville I have been richly blessed with family members. My first son was born in France, the second son died in birth, then a daughter and son in Clover, SC. Next I was again blessed with two more daughters through a second marriage and finally a daughter we adopted. My wife, Karen and I are members of Christ the King church in Charlotte NC; We are surrounded with family and friends.

    Here Come the Poems

    Remembering

I picture her among the flowers

    Creations beauty man’s delight

Her favorite place for spending time

    Planting delight blooms and thyme

Accented by countless gems of white

    Color enhanced with darker green

    And lighter shades carefully spaced

A haven for her soul to spend

    Among flowers which sweetly bend

By sun and rain each gently graced

Those gardens gave a special peace

That soothed her troubles and care

As peace was given and solace found

Among the flowers which did abound

    As time unmeasured vanished there

    The Dogwood Grove

The dogwood grove serenely lies in quiet reverent grace

Its vernal blooms in mass so pale against the darker space

Draw from the heart deep sighs

For time goes back and memory cries that once by God’s dear grace

As fastened there by pounded nail with pain disfigured face

    The Prince of Glory dies

The lively green of leaves imply

That life’s once more in place as dying there He tore the vail

And evermore erased separation from God on high

    Blessings

Another night of peaceful rest has lain about the door

While all inside are sweetly blessed with tender sleep once more

The children’s prayers have all been heard and all are snuggled in

With grateful hugs and kisses shared, forgiven of our sins

The night may hold a moonlit glow from cloudless sky above

That bathes the farm and all it owns in God’s tender love

    But mothers lie
