Preface
Regardless of ethnicity, religious persuasion, creed, caste, class, or political opinions, I am sure that all of us believe that we could warm and make happy the hearts of others at Christmas. Reminiscent of the lines, If I can help somebody as I pass along…if I can do my duty in a word or song, then my living shall not be in vain,
it is my belief that true living begins when we contribute, when we share. Life is so much more meaningful when we foster acts of kindness to make someone else’s life better and more meaningful; when the attitude of being a Scrooge
departs. Christmastime allows the opportunity to negate the scrooginess
in all of us. It’s a time of deeper caring and sharing. It’s a time of peace, love, and joy; yes, an exciting and exuberant moment in time; It’s the time of year when the world falls in love. Every song you hear seems to say: Merry Christmas, may your New Year dreams come true.
When we cease to cherish such a moment we become diseased
in mind, disoriented, confused, and miserable in spirit because we focus on ourselves more than others. Christmas is not about promoting unhappiness; it’s not about grinching
and pinching.
It’s not a time of lowness,
not a time for stinginess; and certainly not a time for tight hands.
Explore the goodness that you possess in your soul! Release your blessings on all! Give more! Expect less! Christmas is about giving, not only at Christmastime, but giving with heart and soul all year through. Christmas culminates in the joy and gladness that we experienced during the course of the year, knowing that all year through we gave of our bounties, we shared and we cared about our next door neighbor.
I know of people who for years have never said Hello
to the person living in the adjacent apartment. Even dogs and cats get along today. Let us not become cold and indifferent; share the warmth! Let us not become crass, callous, caustic and confrontational with those around us. Let us put on the mantle of love, peace, and joy…let’s lift up Christ our Savior…the Christ in Christmas. For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace
(Isaiah 9:6).

"And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed. And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria. And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; because he was of the house and lineage of David: To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And
