DEDICATION
A Father’s Son
When it was time to write the dedication, I wanted to praise someone who has helped mold and shape me to be who I am today. I wanted this very personal book to be reflective not only of who I am but, more importantly, of why I am. So with no hesitation, it is my pleasure that I dedicate this book to my father, Stanley. I simply wouldn’t be the man I am without you in my life. I’ve learned so much not only from our experiences but also from your words of wisdom. You are smart, funny, nonchalant, and truthful about your feelings. I approached this book with some of those same characteristics.
One thing that I remember from our many conversations is that I will learn many lessons that the world will teach me. You, my father, made sure I knew what the world was capable of. While I had to learn hard lessons, your consistent approach to life is worth understanding. I had to harden at an early age so that the world couldn’t break me. I had to adjust quickly because this life requires adaptability. You are a direct representation of these things that I possess.
Simply put, I am because you are; and for that, I love you exactly how you are and where you are. It’s my pleasure to meet you right there! While I can’t express my gratitude enough, I can say these two words with the truest intent and expression of how I reverence our relationship: thank you.
41948.pngINTRODUCTION
41953.pngI ’VE ALWAYS FOUND it hard to be vulnerable. I hate being on display and metaphorically naked in front of people. I try to conceal my emotions or keep my true feelings in a protected state. In order for me to go to the place that God has called me to, I had to understand that my vulnerability housed my strength and power. I didn’t have dominion before I saw the beauty in truly tapping into who I am. This is when I knew I was a gatekeeper to something great, just like Adam in the Bible, who was given dominion by God. He had the authority to rule his space and give life to the abundance around him. This didn’t mean that someone or something would not try to thwart the promise, and that’s what we forget as we live this life. Adam had a key role to protect what was his, and frankly, he wasn’t successful in that moment. Once given grace, he had to take a different approach to protect what was rightfully his.
Destiny is the totality of your life, with purpose-building experiences that define your truth and make you stronger.
Your winning season is owning your destiny, purpose, and truth, and knowing that will allow you to breathe life in everything around you. With that, one thing was very important to me as I started the journey. I needed to start this book in a way that cleared our minds on what purpose and destiny is all about. I know it’s a perception that destiny is an end point, but I simply don’t believe it is. Destiny is the totality of your life, with purpose-building experiences that define your truth and make you stronger. Frankly, we are necessary because of our purpose and destiny. Simply, I wrote this book for us to get to work on our lives and start doing something toward being our better selves. Honestly, I don’t care if you want to be a physician, preacher, auto mechanic, stripper, or drug dealer. I am hoping you figure out how to be better at those things after reading this book and hopefully check your character in the process to figure out if you should be doing those things at all. That’s what winning is all about.
If what you are doing is not building you up, it is most certainly tearing you down. In order to set a standard for yourself, you must know that there is not an in-between on your purpose. You can’t halfway complete your purpose or destiny. You must either finish the course or get off the track. Our purpose and destiny are calling us, and they are often calling us loudly. What I absolutely promise you is that the principles that are in this book are not a gift but rather a code that clearly illuminates the real you. It’s a code to give you access to higher thinking, higher manifestation, and higher living. Here’s the deal. If you read this book, you will learn something about yourself that will emphatically change your life. But I need you to give this book to someone else who you know needs it so you can pay it forward. We all need a code to start our journey, and it can make all the difference. Your code, which God developed specifically for you, is waiting to be connected to the many other codes that are meant to exponentially expand your horizons.
Bad times will no longer define you; rather, they will magnify you.
Part of growing will boil down to exposing some things in your life. We often see exposure as a bad thing. We feel violated when our innermost sensitive nature is now revealed, which tells a different story than what we want others to see or know. Hopefully, as you continue to read, you will see that exposure naturally reveals who we really are, and in that is a freedom that propels you to the best times of your life. Through this revelation, you will come to understand that the more you let out, the more you are able to receive information that allows you to live the very best life. Allow your spiritual twenty-twenty vision to kick in and reveal the beauty of your life. Psalm 119:8 tells us to open our eyes that we may behold wondrous things out of the law. This very passage allows us to see that we are open and in alignment and truly see life as it should be and not necessarily gauged on what has happened. We will see the wonders of God’s hand at work in our past, present, and only the best times to come. Regardless of the situation, we can see God at work when we allow our eyes to be opened. In this, you will come to know that you are simply an awesome work of God’s hand. Bad times will no longer define you; rather, they will magnify you. No more fear of hiding because you will soon come to understand that it is all working together for a greater purpose. You are who you are, and you are well on your way to being better at being you.
Take this book for instance. Everything that has happened in my life has been for multiple reasons, and one of them is to produce this book, which is my purpose. It’s what I have to offer the world, and I feel honored to share a piece of who I am in hopes that someone else can be uplifted. I know that this book is designed by God through me for his glory, which will divinely connect to whom it is supposed to for the greater good. My friends, I am telling you that there is something GREATER IN YOU; and finding that part of you is no longer an option but now a vital requirement. Go now and turn these pages as you start to understand that the greatness that you have dreamed of has been in you all along, and now it’s coming forth. Be good to yourself, and you will innately become good or better to others. When it’s all said and done, you will be
