    Preface for Unknown Pathways

This is the third volume of poetry by Paul Zeppelin following Shattered Silence and Naked Trees. Paul writes ever inventive enigmatic yet often intimate and sensual poems. His sometimes controversial, provocative but philosophically justified views are expressed laconically with an effortless flow of musically rhythmical phrases. Paul’s verse is like a morning breeze of fresh air, which is badly needed in today’s poetic efforts that deviate from the poetic genre. The poetry contains attractive thoughts and his allegories and symbolism take central stage and capture the imagination.

I highly recommend this book of lyricism, wit and a veiled heartfelt storytelling.

    The Last Teardrop

    Anew

    I am a disillusioned dork:

I need to ask my mother

    About that thoughtless stork

That dumped me at her door

Yet was aware of my good father.

He better get ready for a real war.

    Dark clouds steadily roll in,

    Rain doused the sunset’s flames,

    My glands made more adrenalin,

So, I can figure out newer blames.

Five races started by the primal word

Black, brown, yellow, red and white

Make love in every corner of the world,

Adjusting our order with their might,

    Aiming much farther, higher, faster,

Deleting olden rules of our quagmire,

    And spreading our imminent disaster.

They make some ripples in the pools

That rock their boring years ahead,

As passengers on the ship of fools,

They only waste their daily bread.

My toes already test the waters,

Yet I still meander in the blew,

And say, "Lets flip the quarters,

    And recreate the world anew."

    Our Foolish World

    It is our foolish world:

    We burn the bridges

    Between our sorrows;

    Just mark my word,

    We will destroy all sieges,

    We will embrace tomorrows

    We navigate our lives’ ocean,

    Not all is fish that’s in the net;

Sometimes the efforts of a fairy

    Set our perceptions into motion,

    Perhaps, not quite sufficient,

    But doubtlessly necessary.

    We rush
