About this ebook

This book was written to inspire others as they encounter various disappointments and heartfelt grief on life’s journey. I have heard many say that the loss of one’s mother is one of most devastating experiences. I can testify that it was for me. However, through God’s grace I have found strength and determination to continue life’s journey. This book relieved and released me as God breathed new life into my situation. I hope it will help refresh your view of life as well. This book is a tribute to my mother who passed away on March 5, 2018. It is the 6th book I have written. As a writer, I currently reside in Tallahassee, Florida.

    Introduction

This book is dedicated in memory of our mother, Ruth Goode Hogans, A Mother’s Touch. How she played an important role in her seven children, and grandchildren’s lives as well as others. She lost her husband when we were very young. Our daddy served in the U.S Army in World War II. Mom was a giving, loving, and strong woman who loved and lived her life for her children. She was a hard taskmaster when we got out of line.

I was the third child who was stricken with polio at the age of two, which hindered me from walking. Mom was always there for me; she prayed, loved, and took good care of me. She was my best friend, besides God being first. Mother gave me hope when many times I wanted to throw in the towel on life. She was a mother that anyone would love to have.

Even if she is not physically present, her memories will always be with me. There are times I miss my mom and grieve her death so much that the pain seems to be unbearable. One of the most important blessings was when she introduced us to God at an early age. She was a great supporter of our church, school, and other activities.

The loss of a mother can be the greatest emptiness of one’s life which cannot be fulfilled or substituted. My accomplishments and success are because mom believed in me and spoke positive words in my life. She would always say, I’m proud of you.

Death leaves a heartache; no one can heal.

Love leaves a memory; no one can steal.

Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure.

You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.!

    Mother’s Prayer

Heavenly Father, Thank you for the gift of earthly life, and particularly for the life of my mother.

Thank you for all the years we enjoyed her.

I praise you that she stood with us through good and bad times.

I cherished the memories of times of joy and of sorrow,

she is at rest with you.

I thank you for the hope of a future in your presence

    That we will share together.

Now, may you, the Lord of peace,

Give us peace at all times, in every way

Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen!

    A TRIBUTE TO RUTH HOGANS

    You Never Said Goodbye

    You never said I’m leaving

    Not even tell me goodbye,

You had slipped away before I knew it

Only God knew the reason why.

    The moment that you died

    My heart was torn into,

    One side filled with heartaches

    The other died with you.

I often lie awake at night

When the world is fast asleep,

And take a walk down memory lane,

    With tears upon my cheeks.

    Sleep on, sleep on mother,

    You never went alone,

for part of me went with you

The day God called you home.
