Kindle Self-Publishing for Beginners - James Moore
Introduction
Hi, and a huge warm welcome to you for joining me in this title. My name is James Moore, and I’d like to congratulate you for deciding to take a big look at one of the greatest passive income streams around. Kindle publishing with the use of Amazon.
All of the approaches of this book are based on the Amazon store (www.amazon.com).
I’m sure you’re already familiar with Amazon, and maybe you’ve already shopped there before. Amazon is the world’s number one online marketplace, and is a multi-billion dollar company which has millions of users who visit Amazon every single day. And that’s why it’s great for self-publishing.
Amazon offers a diversity of various types of products for sale. Actually, it’s well known for selling books which are both digital and printed. The method I’m going to show you is focused on the publishing and selling of digital books, rather as well as printed books. But once you get the gist of digital, you can (if you want) move forward into printed as well. It’s your choice!
It’s imperative you don’t get the two mixed up as much of the process varies considerably. Amazon has an electronic book reader which they allow readers to download, so they can read titles, and this is called Kindle. It allows an individual to access the Amazon Kindle Store where they can download and read any digital books within seconds.
In the Amazon Kindle Store, only digital books (Kindle books) are listed, which people can quickly download to their Kindle reader, tablet, or PC or laptop. There’s no need to purchase a Kindle device to download or read digital books as Amazon provides a multitude of free e-readers which can be downloaded to a computer which allows you to read any of the books from their store.
The main reason making money with Kindle books is such a great opportunity, is because there are more and more people switching to the reading of digital (compared to printed books). Such is the extent of this, Amazon has reported, for every 100 printed books they’ve sold; they have also sold 105 Kindle books. This shows there is a growing demand for these digital books, and the trend shows no signs of slowing down.
When a person wishes to purchase a Kindle book, they’ll go to Amazon’s website and navigate to the Kindle Store. Here, they’ll do a search for a specific keyword for the type of book that they are searching for. On the other hand, if they own a Kindle reader, they can effortlessly perform a search with their device directly on the Kindle Store, just by following the same search process.
If there’s a relevant book in the Kindle Store which the person is searching for, and which catches their attention with an appealing title and cover... and shows positive reviews, the person can instantly purchase the book.
At this point, it’s a matter of clicking the buy now
button which instantly gives them admission to the book. At the time of purchase, their credit card (which Amazon has on file) will be debited.
Reports show: Amazon now has in its possession over 300 million credit cards held within their system. This is one of the main reasons it’s so straightforward for customers when purchasing Kindle books.
Customers don’t have to enter credit card details each time they want to buy. In fact, a lot of purchases on Amazon are impulse buys.
Our job, when attempting to make money on Kindle, is to deliver affordable books which meet reader’s needs of what they’re searching for, while at the same time, helping to add value to their life in some way, shape, or form.

Kindle Publishing Overview
Book Overview
Here I’m going to provide you a short overview of how Kindle publishing works, and the prospect it offers for you to make money online. I recommend that you go through all of the lessons to make sure you have a full understanding about how Kindle works and the chances you have to make money online.
In this chapter, we will cover the following:
How You Use Amazon
Amazon’s Best Seller Ranks
Using a Book as an Example
Worthy Tips
Further Links and Resources
Exercise
How You Use Amazon
In this comprehensive program, I’m going to show how you leverage and how to begin to tap into Amazon’s power and their millions of potential customers. We’ll then see how to publish books to the Kindle Store and make money from them.
At this point, I want you to consider Amazon as being a huge search engine in the same vein as Google, Bing, or any others you might know. The only difference being: when people go to these search engines they are often searching for free information, however, when people go to Amazon, they are looking to purchasing something more specific.
In Amazon’s search bar at the top of the page, users will type whatever it is they’re searching for.
If we use the example of Kindle, individuals will use the dropdown list to select the Kindle Store
option to search for a specific book. For example: self-improvement.
At this point, they type in a primary keyword or phrase for the type of book in which they are looking for in the search bar. If someone wishes to improve themselves, they will type in the search bar self-improvement.
The first result which comes up when performing this search is called, Gumptionade: The Booster for your Self-Improvement Plan.
Your search might show a different title, depending on what the most relevant title is at the time of your search.
From this point, I’ll show you step by step, just how a book is published using the content of this book. Until you have experience, you can flick back and forth to review the entire process that I have shown, or pick out areas where you are unsure, you are free to do whatever fits your needs.
Here, I’m going to show you all the latest and up-to-date techniques which work for Kindle publishing, today. One thing I wish to point out is: the number of results that you get when you search for the keyword self-improvement
in the Kindle Store. You’ll see there are hundreds (if not thousands) of results which show you just how many books are available right now.
When performing these searches, the search engine primarily finds the top books in the search results for the desired keywords. They might check anywhere (between the first and up to the tenth book which is displayed).
Few people actually scroll further to the bottom of the page and then click through to further pages of results. The main thing which grabs reader’s attention, in particular, is the cover of the book followed by the title, and the number and quality of reviews. The price being the final decision maker, in many cases.
Based on these factors, individuals quickly decide whether or not they will buy the book. Recently, Amazon has added a cool new feature, Buy now with 1-Click
which will show up on the search results page.
So, if people decide they want that book, they can quickly click the button, and as Amazon has their credit card details on file, it is a one-click process for them to make a purchase.
Amazon’s Best Seller Ranks
Now, what I’m going to show you in this book is how you can get your book both written and published. We also see how to get the cover produced, come up with a great title, and get good reviews too. Finally, we see how you should price your book.
One of the most crucial factors is how to make sure your book ranks highly, and shows at the top of the search results for its keyword.
To summarize, this system is showing you the power of being able to rank at the top of the search results for keywords relating to your published books.
Using a Book as an Example
Now, I want to provide you with a bit more of an in-depth overview using real books as an example. 12 Rules for Life
is one example for our purposes here. The first thing which stands out for any book to grab people’s attention is the cover.
The cover needs to be excellent and eye-catching, so when people see it, they immediately think I want to purchase that book!
It is very true; people do judge
