    DEDICATION

This book is dedicated to all those broken vessels that only Jesus can mend and use for his purposes—who need to know that Jesus loves them and those who need a loving father in their lives.

To my children, both biological and spiritual, who have loved and helped me to mature in my walk with Jesus.

Lastly, but most important, to my heavenly Papa who has loved me unconditionally since I was born and whom I couldn’t do this life journey without.

    Preface

When Apostles Catherine and Michael Young first approached me, in 2007, with the idea that I needed to put my thoughts and life into the form of a book, my reaction was one of resistance. My initial thought was that there were so many books already written; why do I need to write one? It was March 2008, and I was involved in a conversation with my friend, Pastor Roger Wilmer. As I shared with him my husband’s testimony of committing his life to Jesus in December 2007, Pastor Wilmer shared with me that I needed to write a book. Once again, my reaction was one of who me? Pastor Wilmer felt strongly that by sharing my personal testimony, I could be helpful to others. He ended the conversation with an appeal that I get busy and put my declaration on paper for others to read.

It was January 2020, and I got a word from a prophet who didn’t know me on my last ministry trip. She said I needed to get busy and write this book that I was behind. I did start it in 2008 but never finished it.

This was not something that I ever thought I would do. However, one thing I did know is that God would equip

me to perform the task before me as He had so many times before. So, with His direction, here is my testimony of how He has worked in my life. For that, I am eternally grateful.

    Chapter One

    Early Years

It is important to know my roots to understand how God has worked in my life. Without these roots, my life would have been different. The tapestry of each of our lives is unique. Only God can see the pretty side of His work. We get to see the messy side. The knots, threads, and colors going in all directions.

These are my memories and recollections. Everyone’s recollections of incidences mentioned will not be the same. We all see the same circumstances differently according to how it affects us and where we are in our life’s journey.

My story and my life began in Washington, D.C., in 1950. I am the ninth child of eleven children. I was raised in a strict, Roman Catholic home, which included going

to Catholic school through the sixth grade—church every Sunday, confession every week, and you were expected to be at every Holy Day service. It was an obligation of the church and my parents. The only thing that kept you from going was if it snowed a lot or if you were sick and you didn’t work on Sundays.

My mother taught us to pray the rosary and that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was our connection to God. I remember always believing in God. My story is like others in that God was watching over me even before I knew His son Jesus in a personal way.

The mass was in Latin when I was young, which included everything except the sermon. The service was exactly one hour. You could set your watch by it. The priest faced the altar and the crucifix with the figure of Jesus on it. I always wondered what they were hiding from me. Can you imagine how this would make God seem so far away and untouchable? How could you know a God where you couldn’t understand the language? I didn’t have a clue as a young child. I
