    Jackie tapped her pen lightly on the desk in front of her as she heard the familiar words to signify that her professor was wrapping it up for the session. OK then, guys and gals. See you next time. Keep on reading!

    The lecture had been in English Literature, which Jackie didn’t mind. She thought she’d do okay in this class, but it was her History class that she was really struggling with. Jackie’s History professor was pretty old and, in Jackie’s opinion, an uninspiring man, and she was having a difficult time getting engaged in any work for him.

    She wasn’t a bad student. In fact, she was studious and hardworking, but the sources they were supposed to be studying for that class just weren’t capturing her attention. After this lecture had finished, she’d arranged to meet Professor Lynch in his office. They’d been given quite a large element of choice in their next assignment, and she had an idea to run by him.

    The Enlightenment Period was what they’d been studying, but Jackie felt that they’d been looking at it in a very material sense. She had some ideas for a philosophical essay, and she was hoping he’d approve
