Jenny stared at the room in something close to despair. She hadn't had the chance to clean since the last time they had a study session. She had time, she thought to herself as she stared at the room, but not the will. She lacked energy to do more than lift the blanket from the floor and try to pick up the snacks. This year of college had been both difficult and a full time pain. It was like there was a list of things that she'd always wanted to do but failed miserably at. It seemed like that was her last chance to do all of them and still somehow manage to pass at school. Jenny felt overwhelmed. She didn't even want to consider life after college and the uncertainties it held.

You going to stand there, staring at space? Her best friend, Jackie, startled her.

Jenny jumped a little, turned around and laughed at herself for being startled in the first place. I didn't see you there. She laughed again. Jackie had been part of the all night crash study session, and Jenney had been so relieved when she had volunteered to remain and help clean up.

Jackie was the kind of pretty that yelled not to
