Resilience isn't something that comes and goes
RESILIENCE DOES NOT imply that your life has ups and downs.
This is something that everyone goes through. What matters is how you deal with the downs.
Everyone is capable of dealing with minor setbacks such as running out of coffee or misplacing their car keys. With much more difficult setbacks, resilience comes into play.
Going on a diet is a classic example of this. You want to lose 20 pounds and are determined to do so. However, you wake up in the middle of the night feeling extremely hungry while on your new diet.
So, what are you going to do?
• Do you succumb to the refrigerator, as the majority of people do?
• Or do you fight the hunger in order to stick to your diet?
Fighting hunger demonstrates your fortitude. Another thing you can do to combat hunger is to drink a glass of water. This demonstrates that you have the inner strength to overcome adversity.
