About this ebook

This book is a captivating anthology from stark moments over the past year, and more. Moments that shocked specific groups of people, and the world at large. Moments which made me exceedingly emotional and provided me with ample material to compile this book.
The book focuses on social injustices, and inequality prevalent towards minorities, and communities of color. It also covers the Corona Virus, how it changed our daily lives, and our routine.
Love is the solution for every ill, and ailment we face individually, as well as collectively. Therefore, some poems cover this great emotion. Love, while it appears to be lacking, is still constant, readily available for us to experience, and enjoy.
Here’s hoping this book positively impacts the life of everyone who reads it!

Moments and Musings - Arlette Wiggins

    After the Pandemic

    After the pandemic

    What’re you gonna do?

    Will you grow so lazy

That you’re gonna put on your pajamas

    Pull the covers

Lay there asleep with your complacency

Will you constantly combat those who

are progressively painting the way brightly for a better community?

    After the pandemic

    What’re you gonna do?

Will you remain in a state of hysteria

Hyperventilating, creating hypertension and hallucinating about things that never will be

Will you be hushing the voices of reason and sensibility?

    Hiding and covering your hesitation

    In bandages of cowardice

    Whispering am I gonna survive?

    After the pandemic

    What’re you gonna do?

    Will you step forward bravely

Making purposeful paces toward a progressive future

For family and those who are in your care?

Will you rethink the way your thoughts flow?

Or will you doubt yourself every time there’s an opportunity to grow?

Will you forge ahead lending a helping hand to those in need

Showing them the way forward and assisting them to ultimately succeed?

    Will you make major changes?

    Mend those broken fences

Or would you lay sleeping through the pandemic

    Under lockdown bringing yourself down?

    After the pandemic

    What’re you gonna do?

    Be Free

    Find your happy time

    Find your happy space

Don’t deflect to that negative space

Life is great you made it thus far

    Don’t look back move on

Shine bright become that glowing morning star

    Be alive be free

Move fervently and fiercely becoming all you can be

    Don’t hesitate don’t turn around

Charge forward moving ahead with feet planted firmly on solid ground!

    Blood of the Ailment

    Blood on the pavement

    It’s a surefire predicament

Of the black man in the United States

Slammed to the ground face down

    Beaten to submission

    At times even to oblivion

Based on a veiled call of trumped-up suspicion

    Blood of the
