About this ebook

The purpose of this book seeks to deliver a biblical perspective for women who become tired of ineffective dating. This may prompt the desire for biblical insight.

I wish to address and deal with the issue of ineffective dating by providing a formal articulation of the foundation for a Godly relationship. I hope to repair how we determine a healthy Godly relationship.

I am addressing this for myself - along with women like me, who desire a Godly relationship with the intent of marriage.

To my Mom Doreathia Maria Robinson; Thank you for introducing me to God and for keeping me grounded in the Word of God.

To my Dad Donald Harris, for always encouraging me in all of my endeavors in life - despite how crazy or far-fetched they were.

    I love you both.

    Introduction

    Study Your Word

Maturity through Christ is found in your love for God, which strengthens as you seek God’s truth which revives you. (James 1:4-5 NIV) Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

When you are whole in Christ, you are mature in your walk with God; you become mature in your life choices. When you have been washed by the Word of God it changes how you make decisions in life. Applying His teachings to your life is the key to being whole in Christ.

You must study the word with understanding of how to apply the word to your life.

(2 Timothy 2:15 NIV) Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. Find a Bible and a study guide that matches where you are in your walk with God. It does not matter what version of the bible you read as long as you understand it. The New International Version Bible is the translation I draw from. The Message Bible provides a layman’s terms translation for those who do not understand other translations. I really like the app, Holy Bible by YouVersion; it has every translation and devotionals of the bible to follow.

Studying the Bible can be done in many ways. I study the bible by finding scriptures or stories that discuss issues I am dealing with, such as ‘What is a wife?’  I like to pray before studying the Bible; I ask the Lord for guidance and the Holy Spirit to help me understand the Bible. I do not know the Bible like the back of my hand, so I need help and use Google. I Google scriptures and stories from the Bible regarding my topic. Once I’ve found the scriptures, I read them to confirm if they really apply to my topic. I do not read them out of context; I read the whole chapter surrounding the scripture to make sure I’ve identified exactly what I need. Also, I look up any words I don’t understand to make sure I completely interpret what the scripture is saying. If you wish to dig deeper, you can find out who wrote the Bible; who the author was speaking to, why the author wrote the information and what was occurring during the time this book was written. This will also help you better understand the text. Wikipedia is not a good source; any one can alter that site. I like Bible Gateway www.biblegateway.com as a resource tool.

    Pray Often

Now let’s talk about praying. I know people will advise to pray for hours or pray for your situation and let it go, but honestly - I do not pray for hours or pray once about a situation and just move on. I pray for as long as I can and whenever I can. I pray every time I feel
