"UNIQUE THOUGHT" AND POLITICAL RESIGNATION: THE LIMITS OF A FALSE EXCUSE

1. Globalization: reality and fiction

According to the ideologues of neoliberalism, globalization is an unprecedented phenomenon that put an end to all economic models that in one way or another gave the State an intervention role in the economy (Keynesianism, developmentalism, State socialism, etc.) and that left the market economy as the only possibility.
According to Borón, GLOBALIZATION IS AS OLD AS THE DISCOVERY OF AMERICA: the indigenous peoples exploited and murdered by the colonizers suffered from the global character of capitalism, an economic system in which modern wage-earning forms of production can coexist for centuries with slavery and servitude. There is no reason to think that the current globalizing wave does not produce such devastating effects as the previous ones.

UNIQUE THOUGHT AND POLITICAL RESIGNATION: THE LIMITS OF A FALSE EXCUSE

MARX AND ENGELS, in the Communist Manifesto 150 years ago, had described with amazing precision the characteristics of capitalist globalization: spurred by the need to give more and more output to its products, the bourgeoisie travels the whole world ... old national industries ... are supplanted ... by industries that no longer use indigenous raw materials, but raw materials that come from the most distant regions of the world and whose products are not only consumed in their own country but in all parts of the globe . And they end up saying that The bourgeoisie ... forces all nations, if they do not want to succumb, to adopt the bourgeois mode of production ..., statements that demonstrate, says Borón, the superiority of Marxism over bourgeois economic theories. , who saw benefits for everyone and everywhere from the expansion of the capitalist market and production in the world.

Two world wars and several deep economic crises, poverty, unemployment and hunger, have shown that capitalist competition does not lead to progress but to monopoly.

But the DEFENDERS OF NEOLIBERALISM hide all this and try to make globalization pass as the unstoppable force of progress, where there would be no classes, or weak and powerful, or in any case they argue that nothing can be done to modify reality.

Globalization: the old and the new

According to Paul HIRST, GLOBALIZING TRENDS have gone through three STAGES:

 1870-1914, LIBERALISM (the Belle Époque)  period with growth rates of world trade and production of 3.5% per year, with capital
