The Lord’s Cup in Communion - Bisi Oladipupo

    Dedication

To Jesus Christ, my Lord and Saviour—to Him alone that laid down His life that l might have life eternal. To Him that led captivity captive and gave gifts unto men (Ephesians 4:8). One of those gifts is writing!

    Bisi Oladipupo

    Foreword

Jesus Christ our Lord has already paid a great price for the salvation of the world. The ordinance of breaking of bread has been given to us believers to remember what Jesus Christ did for us.

"For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come" (1 Corinthians 11:22-26).

If we are to break bread and drink the cup in remembrance of the Lord, we are to do it with the understanding of what the Lord has done for us.

So, what does the cup remind us of? Likewise, what does the bread remind us of?

This book will be looking only at the cup.
