Dr. Sally Jones resides in Lumberton, North Carolina, with her husband Thomas and her youngest son, DeAndré. She graduated from several institutions: Adelphi University, University of North Carolina at Pembroke, and South Carolina State University. Dr. Jones has worked as an educator for over forty years. Her jobs included a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and district office administrator. Dr. Jones has also worked in various capacities in the church most of her life. She has served as a Trustee, Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School leader, church treasurer, music department chairman, and musician. In addition, she has been the keynote speaker for many religious occasions. Dr. Jones has a missionary zeal to serve the Lord and to help people. Writing gives her another avenue to inspire others. Preface

I was born in 1954 in a small southern town in South Carolina. My extended family started as sharecroppers, and they worked hard on the farm for many years. Like many black families, they later migrated to Brooklyn, New York, to pursue employment and a better life.

Family gatherings, picnics, and Sunday soul food dinners were the norm. Love and laughter always filled the room. However, living in the inner city exposed me to a lot of day-to-day struggles.

As I reflect on my family, friends, and experiences as I grew up, I realize that God played a major role in our lives. These short stories captured real-life struggles. I included biblical stories, scriptures, hymns, inspirational thoughts, and reflective questions to support each concept. These stories will be an inspiration to all who read them.

I am who I am because of my family, friends, and experiences. I want to acknowledge all the descendants of the late Freddie and Sallie Washington-McDuffie. I want to especially thank my mother, Myrtle Rosie Salmon, who introduced me to God and his love. I also want to acknowledge my biological father, the late Jasper Page, who did not raise me, but I got to know him when I got older. I want to acknowledge my stepfather, the late Clarence Salmon, who shared fatherly love and encouraged me to do my best.
