Sabrina narrowed her eyes against the glare of the early afternoon sun. The tiredness of a second day on the road washed over her and she started to wonder if she wouldn’t have been better off just flying to the family reunion. It was still a couple of days to go before the party took place so there was no rush to push things and when she saw the sign for a diner five miles ahead decided it would be a good place to stop and have a rest.

When she pulled in the parking lot and struggled to find a space she wasn’t so sure she’d made a good choice, but the thought of driving on didn’t appeal so she persevered. When she saw a car pulling out of a bay she made a beeline towards the spot and managed to claim it. She sat for a couple of minutes and then stretched as she got out.

Time for some food, she muttered as she walked towards the diner and opened the door.
