Dusk of the Clans - Kennedy J Edwards
Prologue
The land eased away it’s worries. He sat and tried his best to arch his back, his fur rose. Then he screeched. Useless! I still can’t hiss! I think I’m dead. I’m a dead kitten! Useless mouth! Oliver thought. He looked at his back, his useless back. His paw shook a little. The ease broke. The land trembled. A new world awaits…

The Kittens
Oliver remembered the time when their owner, Sofia, abandoned
them. Duchess and Kliff loved Sofia. Until they were abandoned. Oliver stared at his mother. Mum, when will the kitten come out?
He asked. Soon, It’s almost time, in fact!
His mother replied. Son, don’t worry. You’ve been asking a few times.
Oliver’s father did a slow head turn away from Oliver. Yeah, you curious cat.
Charlie hissed. Now, now, Charlie!
Charlie’s father shouted. You should apologize to your brother.
Sorry, Oliver.
Charlie sneered. The father of the two licked them both. Charlie, I know Oliver’s younger than you, but you can’t boss him around.
He said. Then feeble meows filled the cave. They’re coming.
Oliver’s mother said softly. Ohhh!
Oliver chattered. Chattering is a sound a cat makes when it’s excited. Come on!
the two kittens father ordered. The father picked up the mother with his back. The family ran towards a city.
They arrived at this place called the hospital. This cat family usually comes here for a kitten's arrival. Oliver was about to put his paw on the door when Charlie shoved him and he scratched it. Charlie, it was my turn!
Oliver yowled. Hide!
Kliff commanded. A human walked out of the building. Oh, Madam, another kitten? Come right in!
He said.
Before the cats left, they hired Mrs. Polliver, the snake maid for the cats, to clean their cave. What a miracle! A kitten is beginning to be born.
She said in a sing-songy voice. Then she resumed cleaning the cave. A light appeared in her eyes, a moon light. The only cat left in the house was Claw, the lion protector in their cave. Polliver, the cave spiffy clean yet?
he asked. Yes, Claw, you impatient lion.
Mrs. Polliver answered. My never!
Claw muttered. Don’t speak like that! The only place to clean is your stinky pelt!
Polliver hissed. What? My pelt does not stank!
Claw roared. Alright, move it, Claw! I have to clean!
Claw backed up and growled. He wanted to lay on his pelt and relax, not be insulted. Mrs. Polliver cleaned the flesh of caribou, elk and other animals. Ay yi yi! Claw, you need to learn how to clean your pelt!
Claw narrowed his eyes. Ay yi yi to you.
Claw snarled quietly.
The four cats waited for Duchess to come out. Then four meows filled in. They arrived! I already named all of them!
Duchess meowed excitedly. The white one is Cream, the black one is Captain, the chocolate one is named Coco, and the…
Duchess couldn’t finish her sentence. The last kitten was at least five colors, the rarest colors. It was fawn, chinchilla, lilac, smoke, and cinnamon. Then Duchess finished her sentence. And this is Anshul.
Anshul means sunbeam in the cat language. Anshul mewed. Guess he’s already comforted.
Kliff laughed. Yes, he is.
Duchess concurred. Anshul is cooler than Oliver. Me and him should be the only ones.
Charlie gave Oliver a glare. Oliver hissed. But his hiss was just a bunch of screeches and flying spit. His hiss even sounded like an eagle screech. Oliver is an eagle!
Charlie took a step back. Then he ran away to their home. Charlie!
Kliff yelled. Come back here this instant!
Charlie came back, his tail tucked between his legs. Oliver is not an eagle. But you are starting to become a maniac!
Kliff’s ears were back, his pupils became constricted, his tail was down, and his fur was standing on end. Charlie knew that if this was happening, it meant his
