The marketplace in the scripture refers to those individuals in the business world. Besides this general understanding of the marketplace, there are individuals who do not run a business but are homemakers or are in an employment capacity. They are also vital actors in the marketp lace.

A marketplace is a place where critical decisions affect people’s lives. The marketplace is also a structure that produces any given society’s culture. In the scripture, God reveals the marketplace as a powerful place that needs the right individuals to take on the helms.

Proverbs 29:2…When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice. But when the wicked are in power, they groan. (NLT)

For the sake of this study, I am referring to godly people and how imperative it is for them to come into influential positions at all levels of any society so that they will see humans of any kind flourishing. Individuals with a high sense of righteousness are needful to drive home God’s mind and will into the heart of the culture.
