My Sisters' Keeper - Sherron Elise

    Chapter One

David gunned the engine, and my body jerked as the truck gained speed.

He’s trying to run us off the road! I screamed. My friends and I screamed even louder when David lost control of the truck and we headed straight into a light pole. I shut my eyes as the pole seemed to come crashing into the windshield, glass shattering everywhere...

I was awakened by a huge thump, which was actually me falling off the bed and rolling onto my bedroom floor. I sat up in the darkness and listened. Had my father heard the noise? I don’t want to see any counselor, but I definitely wouldn’t see the one here at school. I don’t need people up in my business. You know how nosy our classmates are. Once Mrs. Blake comes to get me out of class every week, they’d be wondering what’s going on.

Cierra, everyone already knows about the accident. It was all over the news, Ahmani Stewart pointed out.

How could I forget? My friends and I were like celebrities after the terrible accident on Halloween. It was such a crazy time, and I
