HEAT - LaTica McGhee
Perfect Stranger
I moved my hips from side to side, vibing to the music, as I waited for the bartender to make me another drink. I complimented her hair when she brought me my third glass of vodka and cranberry. I came to the bar alone. I never do that, but I needed a getaway. I came in danced a little and made my way to the bar where I planned to stay until I left.
Aye baby!
I heard a voice and rolled my eyes because I knew it was directed towards me. I didn’t answer. The person who matched the voice came and stood in front of me to try again. I said how are you.
He seemed aware that he was being ignored but didn’t care.
I’m married!
I showed him my ring finger.
Your husband is dumb for letting you leave the house.
He moved closer.
I do what I want!
I turned to focus on my drink. I pleaded with my eyes for the bartender to help me. She just shrugged her shoulders and continued her job. I take my damn compliment back. A hand touch my shoulder. I spun around to let him have it. I wasn’t interested!! Dude! What the fu-.
The most handsome man stopped me. He saw my facial expression and chuckled a little.
Hey, I just wanted to ask you to dance.
He was confident and charming.
I’m married.
I raised my left hand again as I calmed down. I felt safe with this perfect stranger.
So am I,
he revealed his wedding band.
Lucky woman.
I smirked.
Lucky man.
The mystery man countered, looking me up & down, undressing me with his eyes.
Where’s your wife?
I asked.
He raised his eyebrow. I don’t know.
He moved closer to me grabbing my lower back. I liked it. The vodka was kicking in. Your husband?
We got in a fight, and both left the house.
I shrugged. DJ Khaled Wild Thoughts blasted through the club speakers.
I led the handsome stranger to the dance floor. I didn’t want to talk about our spouses. From the look in his eyes, I knew how this night was ending and I didn’t mind. I needed to get a feel to see if that’s what I really wanted. I immediately put my backside against him and swayed my hips to the music. We were coordinated.
He was a good dancer. His hands explored my body. His touch was rough yet gentle. I felt his hard on. I was impressed. He spun me around and I danced with one leg between his as he held my other around his waist. His beautiful dark skin started perspiring. His eyes pierced my soul. I didn’t expect that.
Next thing I know our lips were locked like we were both single. I couldn’t control what I was feeling. I rotated kissing his top lip, to the juicy bottom. He smelled good. That musky, masculine cologne he wore, turned me on as a ran my fingers through his short curls. His chest against mine, I could tell he was fit. I just imagined him placing me on his shoulders as he pleased me. He was gonna get it.
You ready to go?
He broke our make out session. I forgot where we were. I just nodded and he didn’t hesitate to head towards the exit.
Wait!
I stopped abruptly outside.
What?
He seemed frustrated.
I have to call my husband to make sure he’s not home.
I dialed. No answer. Asshole. He pulled out his phone.
I have a missed call from my wife.
He looked up at me and we both laughed.
Should we get a room?
I asked.
No, I know she’s not home yet. We can go to my place. Ride with me?
I don’t want to leave my car here tonight… I don’t know you like that.
The irony. What is your name?
I asked finally.
No names until we depart okay.
I agreed. He walked me to my car. I got ready to follow him. He flashed his lights at me to let me know it was him. We made it to the home he shared with his wife in under 10 minutes.
You passed me up a couple times like you knew where you were going.
He joked helping me out my car. The perfect gentleman. Like my husband. Why was I here?
Sorry it was dark I couldn’t really tell which car was yours when I lost you at the light.
Wow this is a nice house. I looked around when I stepped foot in. What happened here?
I asked pointing to a broken lamp.
My wife is crazy as hell,
he shook his head.
Really?
I put my hand on my hip. What did you do? You men always drive women crazy and then play victim when she shows you just what crazy is.
Listen, Ima do better. She notices things I don’t see. I get defensive, we argue instead of me understanding she’ll always have my back.
He explained.
She seems amazing. Sounds like my situation as well. I just want my husband to know I don’t like seeing what I see, but I’m going to let him know what’s up. He thinks he can only protect me. I can do the same for him.
She told the handsome stranger.
I love my wife,
he leaned in to kiss me. Confused me a little because of how he professed his love for her, but I didn’t stop him.
Hey, can we go to the shower?
