    Changing Tides - Katy Hoover

    JOURNEY

    (A Prologue)

Have you ever been on a journey you didn’t want to take? I have. An indescribable time of suffering.

I walked at the ocean, wrote as I processed. It was a liminal journey of change. As I passed through this time of crisis and transition, I found treasures: choice, thin space, miracles, comfort and strength. I found love, so much to be thankful for.

It was not anything I wanted or imagined.

I survived, by surrender, believing that God sees beyond today into eternity. Trusting that God would not leave me so broken. That He would bring good from bad. I clung to family and friends.

I’m NOT OK with the death of my son Kody, but I have made room for it in my heart.

I have changed. As I changed, I needed strangers. I found another mom's group, an open mic, in The Listening Room. I found my sweetest friend.

As I shared my journey in freestyle poetry, I found that there are things in my experience that are universal: fear, pain and loss, strength, creative expression, and love.

My hope is, that in sharing these very personal, private moments, you too will experience God's presence, know that you are not alone, find peace in surrender, choose to make room to enjoy friendship and love…. see treasure.

The good, God brings, from bad.
