#1 Craig Miller was the second-in-charge of Alpha platoon, and he was in charge of Eddie Gallagher. Miller was a tall Texan who liked to wear cowboy boots and didn’t fuck around when it came to laying down the law.

#2 In 2016, Eddie became the platoon chief for Alpha platoon. The two platoons were at a remote Navy installation called La Posta in the dry, rocky Laguna Mountains fifty miles east of San Diego. They were there for close-quarters combat training.

#3 The game consisted of Alpha and Bravo teams having to assemble their pistols as fast as possible. The first team to finish could take the magazine holding the single round in the center of the table, slam it into their gun, and shoot the other new guy in the chest. It was a test of weapon knowledge and performance under pressure.

#4 Alpha had been known as one of the worst platoons in SEAL Team 7 for a number of years. But it had quickly become the best. A big reason for that was Chief Eddie Gallagher.

In 2016, Eddie became the platoon chief for Alpha platoon. The two platoons were at a remote Navy installation called La Posta in the dry, rocky Laguna Mountains fifty miles east of San Diego. They were there for close-quarters combat training.

It was a test of weapon knowledge and performance under pressure.

    #4

Alpha had been known as one of the worst platoons in SEAL Team 7 for a number of years. But it had quickly become the best. A big reason for that was Chief Eddie Gallagher.

    #5

The platoon was not awarded a dangerous deployment for years, but when Miller took over as their chief, he made Alpha into the best platoon in Team 7.

    #6

Eddie was a hard man, and he had a reputation around Coronado as a guardian of the roguish traditions of the SEALs. He never shied away from fire. He had a reputation as a badass.

    #7

The training at BUD/S was extremely difficult, and the instructors were constantly pushing the students to their limits. But Eddie was one of the hardest instructors, and he was proud of it. He became the model and the aspiration of what a SEAL should be.

    #8

When Alpha got a new platoon chief, it also got a new commanding officer, Lieutenant Jake Portier. Portier had been handpicked by Eddie. Eddie was a master of deals, and he knew a good lieutenant was critical to a good deployment.

    #9

Eddie and Portier had deployed together to the Middle East right before joining Alpha. They were staged as a crisis reaction force in case something bad happened in the region. Nothing bad had happened, so they spent the whole time training and lifting weights.

    #10

The platoon’s mojo was on display during close-quarters combat training in La Posta in 2016. The instructors ramped up the training progressively, from solo shooters clearing one room to paint rounds to live ammo. The platoon was able to sweep through a house filled with enemies and civilians without lights, and without any mistakes.

    #11

The SEALs were a rough crowd, and not averse to pain, but suddenly one of the oldest and most trusted members had taken it too far. He had threatened to stab someone. The Sheriff felt embarrassed for Eddie.
