About this ebook

Damned flowers, always trying to grab Bobbie's garbage truck.

Didn't matter that the world had ended a good while back. People still needed their trash pickups. Needed their link to Seattle and civilization and the long-gone days when mammoths didn't roam the streets and tree-sized man-eating flowers didn't line the streets.

Not a bad job, really. Bobbie enjoyed driving around, seeing everyone, helping them out. Problem was that none of his young partners seemed able to see past the fear and the death pollen to just how important it was.

Bobbie didn't lecture, much as he wanted to. Kamryn would get it or not.

Hopefully soon.

    Damn flowers.

Bobbie maneuvered his rattling garbage truck along the long curve of the new roundabout by Granite Falls' big high school, the failed one that no one went near anymore. It was hidden right now or his partner of the day Kamryn might have started sobbing again. The poor kid was terrified by everything outside of Seattle's walls, even the harmless things.

Not that flowers were harmless. He frowned as the flowers' leaves reached out slowly as if to grab his truck. Bit too much broken concrete and asphalt to take this corner outside of their reach, but he should be able to get through for another dozen years or so. Might need to get a team to come out and burn back the center of
