Carolyn Vermes

Born in the Bronx, CAROLYN LUGER VERMES holds a B.A. degree from New York University and an M.A. degree from Yeshiva University. Before becoming a mother, she spent several years teaching mathematics and studying voice. While her boys were growing up, she used her spare time writing poems and songs, which later found their way into two books: Poetry in Motion and “Moshiach!”--Music To My Ears. In her post-child-rearing period, she became employed as the “Shade Lady” of Capitol Lighting in their East Hanover, New Jersey showroom, where she remained for twenty-five years before moving out of New Jersey. Some of the songs in this book can be heard at Lugerland Arts.com, and RadioAirplay.com

    Poetry is spoken,

    Lyrics are sung.

    They’re one and the same,

    With the music gone.

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

I am thankful to those who have inspired me to

write, sing, and share my work with others.

I am especially grateful for the love and encouragement

of my dear sister, Sondra Luger.

Above all, I am grateful to my Creator, who has enabled

me to serve Him in this way.

    DEDICATION

    To my wonderful family,

    Sons, Keith David and

              Jeffrey Michael,

    Granddaughters, Luba and

              Gabriella,

    Daughter-in-law, Chana

              and

    Husband, Rudy, of blessed memory,

              who sent me a sign

              so I could carry on.

This updated and expanded edition of Poetry in Motion

was conceived and produced during a time of great angst

    and uncertainty throughout the world.

A new chapter, CULTURE SHOCK, has been added to

address today’s reality, which is only scary if we’re not

    prepared to deal with it.

Each of the other chapters contain additional verses, as

well. A musical icon will differentiate the song lyrics

    from the poetry.

    Enjoy, and share!

    Carolyn

    THE WAY WE EAT

The eating habits of our times leave much to be desired, For we eat what we see advertised on TV instead of what is required.

So the body complains, with its aches and its pains

    And there isn’t any question
