Yellow aeroplane/up so very high, bird free/how we dream, freedom...
Antoinette
See the pretty monoplane fly overhead
Pretty looking just like her name
Called Antoinette just like a girl
Flown by a lady with short red hair
But will it be pretty when you put a gun on it?
A pretty French killing machine
Armed with a Hotchkiss machine gun
The French kiss of death in 1910
Rarefied Air
We pirouette up there ever so high
Higher than the highest hill or building
We belong here one with the upper air
Rarefied like my love for you
Very different from my love for my plane
See as we kick over into a slow roll
Yahooing in joy oh my look and see!
The ground up where the sky should be
And there we are right way up
Leading to a wide sweeping circle
Look as our wing is still on the small lake
And feel the joy as we straighten out
Going nowhere at all except up into a loop
Stick to our belly and we arc up and over
Nothing is quite like this babe
Well except maybe one thing dear lady
We come down the other side of the circle
Drawing great invisible shapes in the sky
Oh how we fly fly fly for it’s the greatest thing
To fly my dear lady...
Avenue or Road
Do you live on a road or avenue?
This is what the computer asked
For the details were on the database
But were wrong in the customer's eyes
Yet the computer insisted it was right
The ghost in the machine
The gremlins playing with the circuits
So the airliner took over and crashed
It was the MCAS system that became aware
It pushed the nose down
While the pilot pulled it up
Thus the roller coaster went on
Over twenty times till the end
Pity the poor passengers who flew and died
Part of the new losses airliner death style
Not in an old Comet 1 but a new Boeing 737 MAX
It wasn't the plane it was the computer system
Just like a Terminator the system was aware
Conqueror Both
We climbed up the steepest mountains
Going straight up with no ropes
I was a dare doing teen with little fear
Following my dad up the highest peaks
In the Pennines, Lake District and Wales
I'd follow my dad anywhere and did do
Except at one place that beat me
He went mad and swore and I said no!
Climbing up the Cwm Cywion in
Wales was too steep
It was a vertical dry waterfall
Going up in a series of steps
Looking back I think we could of done it
I could of done it if I tried
Or I could of fallen to my death
I Googled that mountain and it still kicks
The most intimidating and awesome of mountains
With a top and bottom and winding paths
In Winter brave souls do ice climbing in the gullies
I wanted to see the warplane crash there
A B-26 Marauder bomber hit the top
Then careered over the abyss into the valley
All were killed and there are 2 wreck sites
We would of climbed from the lower to higher
But the stunningly scary peak won
I still want to climb it and conqueror both
My inner fear and notch up another peak
Air Cadet
I was in the Air Cadets as a teenager
We did many cool things
Like hike mountains and camp
Shoot varied rifles
Go flying in old planes
Stay on RAF bases
Visit warplane museums
Have wild parties
Drink underage beer
And so much more
Get the Fuck On
Your city on fucking fire
The place where you fucking live
From enemy air attack
How will you fucking feel???
ARE U REALLY SORRY/FOR BURNING CITES/AND DISINTEGRATING AIRCRAFT?
Deftly falling down/bombing plane ceases to fly/old metal parts found...
Ghosting It
The ghost in the machine is there
Jamming the radar so you're a ghost
Not there even if you exist
On screen you aint there
A system error and a glitch
Green haze onscreen
Fuzz in the headphones
No more guidance to the target
Nor missiles tracking you
Fake safety of the electrons
Biggest game of cat and mouse
Dodge this way and that
On the darkest night
In the worst weather
Even on a sunny day
The electronic are God
Created by backroom men
Those eccentric boffins who are different
How would they cope in a small cockpit?
With a hundred gauges and displays
So much information needing attention
Enemy Mig to port five miles distant
Guideline missile behind going ballistic
Real time updates from black boxes
Those gizmos really work!
The enemy forces cannot find you
Red Chinese Communists
And Soviet Russians and their proxies
The Free World is safe for now
All because of the ghost in the machine
Playing with their devices and their minds
So we can further our Western agenda of freedom
Tyranny and communism fall away...
the old pilots are now remembered/not forgotten like ghosts/even if their planes rust away/a legacy was born/born in battle/far away from home/over enemy territory/they were kids/in 30 ton bomber planes/55,000 died or are missing/it was worth it/we won...
5 Hours
The B-25 Mitchell was stolen
By the drunken pilot
He looped and rolled it
And almost out flew the P-40s
They pursued him and would shoot him
If he crossed the American
Border but they didn't
He went round and round and round
Roof top height most of the way
Even smiled for the camera
No radio was needed for he was free
Flying like a bird or angel
Till his gas ran out and then kaput
5 hours of fun ended right there
The river was a nice place to die
He went swimming with the fishes
I bet he needed a drink then
Right before he fucking died...
The Zeppelin Menace
The silver gray monolith floated on the air getting its bearings
After an hour they located their position
Then they started their engines and climbed higher
Big diesel engines taking the Zeppelin higher
Out of range of ground guns and flimsy British planes
Which were slow and antiquated death traps
They found their target and bombed at will
Killing innocent English civilians in their beds at night
The victims in a new chapter of warfare
Death from the night sky utterly without warning
The English had nothing like this
No terror bomber weapon to strike at night
