Each item gives the reader a perspective based on the author's life experiences and how she views situations occurring in the US today. While these perspectives are based on what she has seen in the US, it is not restricted to the US because the author is aware that similar issues occur around the world, and she has lived abroad and visited several other countries, who face similar issues relating to race relations, through her military service, as well as her leisure travels. Her goal in writing this short book is to provoke thought amongst diverse groups in the hope to adjust deeply fixed beliefs, based on narrow exposures to individuals from other cultures or ethnic backgrounds.
