About this ebook

There's no such thing as a bad camping trip – only unprepared campers.

Becky Robinson intended to spend her long weekend learning to camp, hike, and fish - all that outdoorsy stuff. But the relaxing getaway filled with sore feet and bug bites is interrupted when she stumbles over a man with amnesia lost in the woods. Rather than a trip to the hospital, the man insists she locate his missing duffle bag.

Does Becky believe his farfetched story? Or is something more sinister at play?

What was the expression about women and a bad sense of direction? For my best friend and me, the cliché about being directionally challenged fit to a T. Some stereotypes became such for a reason.

Our outdoorsy weekend of camping and hiking didn’t help our case. In twenty-four hours, I managed to get stung, bit, and attacked by every insect in the state of Texas. And some yet to be discovered. The prehistoric, flying bat bug that left a welt on my forearm would be named after me – Becky. Or perhaps Beckers had a better ring.

Here’s a lovely idea - instead of a relaxing beach vacation, why don’t we drive all the way from California to Texas? My always-dramatic Vietnamese roommate, Lois Vo plopped on a tree stump and dumped a rock from her hiking boot. But even though we’re practically home, let’s not stop to see our family. We’ll sleep outdoors in the wet grass and become product testers for experimental bug spray.

We only drove because you’re afraid of flying.

That is your takeaway? Hardly my largest complaint.

True but it is the one I take zero blame for. I checked the time.
