    Before we move on to stories, I want to tell you about some important bedtime routines.

    Do you already follow a Goodlatte routine?

    A bedtime routine is something you do every night getting ready for bed, so that every time you slip into it, you already know you are ready for deep sleep.

    Having a proper bedtime routine helps you make sure that going to bed each night, you will not find yourself being distracted by your thoughts.

    Thus, you already know you are completely ready for bed, so you can just relax, listen to your story and fall asleep.

    Every person has a different bedtime routine, but you should always be sure to include brushing your teeth, combing your hair, and aoutputput comfortable pajamas.

    You can also sip water, make sure your bed is cozy, and get your favorite stuffed animal so you have someone to give you comfort and warmth while they sleep next to you.

    Then don't forget to say good night to your family!

    Once you have completed your bedtime routine and are sure you are ready to fall asleep, you can choose your bedtime story and start relaxing.

    Be sure to listen to each story and pay attention, because each one has a relaxing meditation to follow to set you up for a calm and peaceful night's rest.

    This is important because it will help you wake up invigorated and ready for each new day!

    Lavender chases a butterfly

    Tonight, we will enjoy a wonderful story about a little purple fairy named Lavender!

    Before we do that, however, we need to make sure you are nice and comfortable and ready for a good night's sleep.

    So, as a first thing, I want you to make sure that you are tucked in well and that you feel ready to lie down and focus on your breath.

    Make sure your blankets are warm enough, and in case you like to cuddle a stuffed animal to sleep, that your friend is close to you.

    Now, I want you to focus on your nose.

    Take a moment to notice the air going in and out of your nose.

    Can you feel every breath you take? Focus on the feeling of the air as it enters your nose when you inhale and then exits your nose when you exhale.

    Breathing is something we don't usually think about because our body does it automatically.

    Sometimes, thinking about a simple breath can help you relax and feel more comfortable in that moment.

    As you continue to focus on the breath in your nose, I want you to follow that breath the next time you inhale.

    Where does that breath go?

    Do you feel your chest and belly expanding when you inhale?

    It is so because your lungs inflate with each breath, providing your body with plenty of room for air to enter and supply it with oxygen.

    When you exhale, can you follow that breath all the way through?

    Focus on your chest and belly drooping as the air comes out again and you blow it out into your room.

    Now, I will count every breath, and I want you to follow every breath I count.

    Let's start with one, follow your breath along its path through your nose and into your lungs, and then, two, follow your breath as it travels out of your lungs and nose and back into the room.

    Now, three, follow another breath that goes through your nose again and goes into your lungs, and four, follow that breath until it goes out of your nose again and back into the room.

    Five, follow your breath in, and six, follow your breath out.

    Again, seven, follow your breath into your lungs, and eight follow your breath as it comes out through your nose.

    Again: nine, follow your breath as it enters your nose and goes into your lungs, and then, ten, follow your breath as it goes out of your lungs and through your nose.

    Now, I want you to focus on letting your breath be natural.

    Don't try to control it, but rather let your body do it naturally and help you breathe in and out automatically, just as it does every single day when you play games, spend time with your family, or study.

    As you continue to relax with your breath, I want to tell you about a fairy called Lavender.

    Lavender is a beautiful little fairy, no taller than your thumb.

    She has light purple hair, a green T-shirt fabricated from a leaf her mother made for her, and a purple skirt composed of orchids.

    Lavender lives in the Forest of Mysteries with her sisters Sage, Berry, and Bud.

    Her favorite thing to do every day is to play with her sisters in the forest.

    Over there, they like to play tag, hide-and-seek, and soccer with a small blueberry they use as a ball.

    However, unlike her sisters, Lavender also really likes to play alone. Sometimes, while her sisters play hide-and-seek, she sits somewhere alone painting the landscape using berry juice as color.

    Whenever he painted, Lavender always noticed how the Forest of Mysteries was so peaceful.

    As he painted, he saw frogs relaxing on lily pads, dragonflies dancing in the sunlight, and bees collecting pollen from flowers scattered on the forest floor.

    Lavender was always trying to paint these creatures enjoying the calm of the afternoon, but sometimes they would leave before she could finish her painting. However, she still tried.

    One day, while her sisters were playing tag, Lavender decided to go to the Mysterious Stream and paint a frog that was relaxing on a lily pad.

    As he prepared all his colors, he noticed an unusual butterfly perched on a rock.

    This butterfly was unlike anything she had ever seen before, and it immediately caught Lavender's attention.

    Unlike the others she had seen, Lavender noticed that this particular butterfly was incredibly colorful.

    It had light purple, shimmering wings, just like Lavender's hair.

    The butterfly also had pink, orange, green, and blue speckles.

    Lavender was amused by the uniqueness of this butterfly and decided that he would paint her instead of the frog.

    As soon as he began to turn the stand to get a better look at the butterfly, it took flight.

    Wait! cried Lavender, chasing the butterfly.

    He wanted to paint her, so he chased after her, hoping to encourage her to pose again long enough for him to portray her.

    Wait! he shouted again, running to the side of the creek.

    He jumped on rocks, moss, and twigs as he raised his hands in the air and chased the butterfly.

    The butterfly kept flying away, circling and changing direction every few
