Summary of America, a Redemption Story by Senator Tim Scott - Willie M. Joseph

    SUMMARY PART 1

    FOREWORD

Frances Moore's father was a man who lived by three simple rules: Nothing is impossible, If you put your mind to it, you can do it, and You are the only person who can stop you. His education ended in the third grade because his grandfather needed help working the surrounding farms. Frances Beatty's father taught her a valuable life lesson: If you have any hope of moving forward, you'll need to learn to live with bad things. Beatty recalls how scared he was to make the drive from Salley, Virginia, to Charleston, South Carolina. There may be great evil in this world, but do you know what I see when I look at you?.

Negativity wasn't allowed under his roof. If there is anyone with good reason to be angry, it would be my father. In 2001, my mama died of Alzheimer's disease. She was the essence of a Proverbs 31 woman. A Jesus-loving, peacemaking, business-savvy, child-rearing, chef extraordinaire!

Daddy built her a contraption for getting in and out of the tub long before infomercial tubs were popular. Both of their sons have gone further and dreamed bigger, beating the odds.

When Timmy asked me to write the foreword to his book, I thought long and hard about what to share. The stories I could tell you about my son would fill a library, but I think what matters most is that he always had the biggest heart of anyone I've ever known. I see my daddy in Timmy's eyes. He is the best part of my daddy and mama combined, but he is also so much more, Scott says. My boy Timmy is working hard every day to make hope a reality for us all, she writes.

    INTRODUCTION

Why write a memoir now? I fully believe I have many more years to grow, to learn, to serve, and to live out my story. My dream is the idea that my life will positively influence the lives of one billion people before I die. Booker:
