Introduction
Nurture your mind with great thoughts.
~Benjamin Disraeli~
This book is dedicated to all quote lovers. Here is a collection of over 900 remarkable quotes and 150 uplifting verses.
Quote lovers are everywhere. In the office, you can find a beautiful quote or verse pinned on the cubicle of your colleague. You can also see a calendar or mug with a quote on it. On the street and in shops, you can see an eye-catching quote on T-shirts.
A short saying can contain profound wisdom. A good quote is usually one that you love at first reading. However, there are also some where the meaning unfolds after further reflection. A good quote often has a good play of words and is short and crisp. More important, it should be inspirational and rich in wisdom and one which you can draw upon as you move on in life.
I have added a section titled ‘Humorous and Witty Quips’. A humorous quote is one which is witty or carries a twist or irony. It can also give an insight or state a truism. Some, of course, are simply humorous and not to be taken seriously.
The quotes in this book have been taken from various sources - books, bookmarks, posters, calendars, stickers, the Internet, timeless sayings, etc.
If you like quotes, you will also like the uplifting verses collected in this book. Like a good quote, an appealing verse is one which makes you feel good and inspired after reading.
The verses here are also culled from various sources - books, posters, bookmarks and the Internet. The origins are also varied, from ancient philosophers to modern-day thinkers, and from various faiths and traditions. If a source is not indicated, it means that it is unknown or anonymous.
The inspirational quotes and verses have been carefully selected for their potential impact on one’s thought and life. There are several unfamiliar, but remarkable, ones.
I hope you will find this collection a useful companion that you can turn to for solace, encouragement, a change of perspective, or just for a laugh, or to pick a quote or verse to share with someone.
