Dirty Double (Dirty Duo 2) - Aubrey London

    Chapter 1

Part of me can’t believe I’ve moved back home. There was a reason I left, and it was because nothing exciting ever happened here. But then Amber met Ryan, and everything has been turned upside down since. Ryan’s best friend Josh flirted hardcore the first time we met, but I declined a date. After all, I knew I was going back home, so there was no point.

But after moving back, I found myself looking for a job. I’d stayed long enough with Amber and Ryan, and though I loved her like a sister, I didn't want her to take care of me. She had enough on her plate as it was. I thought I could find a job immediately with my qualifications, but I’d mostly spent my time helping plan Amber’s wedding instead.

It’s been fun being back, though. We were supposed to go for a dress fitting and then out to lunch, so I was in Amber’s guest bathroom getting ready.

You know Josh will be there, right? Amber asked me, leaning against the doorframe.

Yeah. Blinking a few times, I decided my eyeliner was as good as it was gonna get. Why?

I’m just saying, if you disappear, I won't judge.

That thought made me cackle. What if you disappear instead?

Amber grinned. Then you can't judge me.

Never. Kissing her cheek, I nudged her aside to slip on my shoes. But no guarantees on jealousy.

That’s why I’m telling you to get all over Josh.

Easy for her to say. She was already so happy with her older man, but I’d seen the looks they got from assholes around town. I wouldn’t judge her, but others sure as fuck did.

    I’ll think about it.

It’s true, he’s hot, and he made me horny every time we were in the same room. His hair was even longer than the last time I was here, though not as long as Ryan’s. Josh had more of a Lucifer look to him, while Ryan looked more like a Viking.

Those thoughts made me shiver, and Amber noticed.

We’ve got all day, babe. Just say the word, and I’ll tell him you want to date him.

He has my number. I’d made sure of that at the dinner celebrating Amber’s graduation. That night remained in my memory, but we didn't fool around or anything. I was focused on Amber and the idea that I would soon leave. And all I’d gotten from him was one text asking if I’d made it home safely.

So now, with the four of us meeting up to have our wedding attire altered, I knew I’d see him later. We lived in the same town now, and I had no reason to turn him down—assuming he was interested after these past few months while I worked on moving and settling here.

The formal clothing store was expecting us, so they had champagne and strawberries set out. It wasn’t even ten in the morning, but I didn’t care. It felt like the perfect time to be luxurious. The staff waited on us hand and foot, and I wondered if they did that for all clients or just the loaded ones like Ryan.

My dress was midnight blue, and I’d picked it out myself. Amber didn't want anything too fancy for the ceremony, so it would be me on one side of the aisle and Josh on the other. Dressed up in his tuxedo. Drool-worthy. Hot as homemade sin.

Sara? The deep voice interrupted my thoughts, and I really did have to catch my drool when I saw Josh standing in front of me.

Hi. Wow, good job, dumbass. Clearing my throat, I smiled up at him, and I mean up. He was so damn tall, and I’m so damn short.

It’s nice to see you again. Hands tucked into the pockets of his slacks, Josh stood there like a demigod and gave me a crooked grin.

You too. Oh, Lord, I needed something intelligent to say. Are you here for a fitting too?

    Nope, that wasn't it.

Yes, I am, he replied very politely, all things considered.

    Me too.

Fuck, the cat had my tongue. The suit he wore was finely cut, and he could probably get away with wearing it to the wedding if he wasn't already set to wear a tuxedo. A few rings glinted on his fingers as he reached forward, brushing his knuckles across my cheek.

    You’re lovely, as always.

My mouth was dry. I wanted to say something, but I was at a loss. Thankfully, Amber rescued me. Sara? They’re ready for you.

Hurriedly, I moved over to the dressing room and stripped before stepping into the dress waiting for me on a peg. It was quite flattering, hitting below my knees with a scoop neckline to show off the girls. They were my best feature, the size sometimes making it hard to find a good bra. Thankfully, the store had a proper bra to match the neckline yet not show, so I hoisted up the bodice and held it against me when I stepped out.

    Stand here, please.

Obeying the seamstress, I stood on the raised platform while she pinned and hummed. Turning me this way and that, she grumbled under her breath as she tugged at the fabric at my waist. I caught sight of Josh coming out of his dressing room, and I had to swallow hard to keep from choking on the saliva flooding my mouth.

Dear baby Jesus, don't let me fuck this up. Looking good, Josh.

He winked at me, but I felt like an idiot for saying that. Not, you’re handsome or that tux fits great. No, of course not.

You’re not bad yourself, Miss Miller.

My cheeks heated, and I found myself unable to meet his gaze. I saw things in his eyes, things I wanted to reciprocate. But he flustered me so much more than any man ever had in my life.

That’s it, miss. The seamstress dismissed me and moved on to Amber.

Her dress was infinitely more important than mine, so I sat to watch them fussing with her hemline. Josh was done a few minutes after me, and then they set to work on Ryan’s tux.

Why are you nervous? Josh murmured, taking the seat beside mine.

Shit, you noticed? Popping my hand over my mouth, I wanted to crawl into a hole and never come back out. I promise, I’m not normally this much of an idiot.

Sara. His voice caressed my name the same as his fingertip caressed my knee.

Hm? Tearing my gaze from my best friend, I finally looked right at Josh. I had to hold back the whimper that crawled up my throat.

    You’re anything but an idiot.

That’s sweet of you. But, you know, had he met me?

    I like to fluster you.

    I frowned. You do?

Oh, yes. It means you feel at least some part of what I feel.

My heart beat so fucking hard in my throat, and his eyes blazed
