Jesus By Another Name is Love - Larry L. Lambert

    Dedication

I want to dedicate this book to my wife, Connie Jo. We were married for fifty-one years and eight months. Through the ups and downs of life, you could always count on her to give sound and godly advice and love. Only now do I realize how awesomely blessed I was to have her in my life. I have a lot to look forward to when I reach heaven, but none more than being reunited with Connie Jo. I love you.

    Connie Jo Lambert

    Feb. 10, 1950—Aug. 18, 2021

Many poems in this book are written about the loss of a spouse.

I pray that those in need will be comforted with these writings.

    Forever

I looked into her eyes and said, I love you. Always have, always will.

Through the bustle of the morning to the night, soft and still.

Whatever a lifetime may bring, whatever ends our endeavor,

Love is the heart’s only thing; that will truly last forever.

    Acknowledgments

The Bible is the Word of God. The Bible is the infallible, inerrant only written revelation that God has given to humanity. What I’ve always been amazed by is how the Bible is not only God’s Word to lead us to salvation, but the Bible is a book of love, long-suffering, and restoration, not to mention many, many other qualities. The Bible is living and God’s Word to us. I know and acknowledge that nothing I have accomplished or will ever accomplish is through His blessings, love, and anointing. In all things, to God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit be the glory!

I would like to acknowledge and thank the following people:

First of all, my wife, Connie Jo. Although she is no longer with me in person, she is always with me in spirit. This book could not have come into existence and been published without her.

In addition, I want to thank and acknowledge Michelle, Luther, Debbie, Hunter, Joshua, Brianna, and Alexander.

My mother, Mildred C. Lambert. If not for her and Connie, I would never have come to the knowledge of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In addition, my sister, Della Anne Jones, and my aunt Clara Mae Cooper.

I also want to thank my pastor, the Reverend Chris Browder. I have received inspiration from many of his messages.

"The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him" (Psalm 28:7, NKJV).

"He has put a new song in my mouth—Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the Lord. Blessed is that man who makes the Lord his trust…" (Psalm 40:3–4, NKJV).

    Endorsements

I would like to heartily endorse this book by Larry L. Lambert. I have known Brother Larry personally for over twenty years, and he speaks from his knowledge of and relationship with God. I have personally taught our church Brother Larry’s book Consider Your Ways, which was a tremendous blessing to all, and I know this book will be as well!

    —Reverend Chris Browder

Pastor, Saints Delight P. H. Church

When you are familiar with God’s anointing, it’s easy to recognize. Larry L. Lambert is an anointed man of God who writes beautiful poetry and songs. He also maintains a very high level of integrity that I really respect and admire. I have drawn strength from his work and will continue to do so. Thank you, Larry, for pouring into me with your God-given talents.

    —Quinton Mills

    Songwriter, Singer, and Evangelist

Brother Larry is, for sure, a man after God’s heart. You can tell by what he speaks through his songs and poems. This book of thoughts from the heart shines light and brings life to your soul… I thank God for Brother Larry.

    —Jason Crabb

    Evangelist and Singer

I grew up in a God-fearing, Christian home. And a home that was always filled with love and art. I was blessed with an amazing and loving mother and with a father who was extremely creative and talented. He paints, does photography, and writes incredible poems and songs, and he sings. I hope that when you read these, they bring you as much joy and blessing as they have given me.

    Thank you,

    —Michelle McKenzie

    You Never Left My Heart

I look at these empty arms, recalling the joyful days.

And memories flood my mind of all your tender ways.

You took with you your beauty that tore my world apart.

But of all the places that you left, you’ve never left my heart.

You never left my heart; your love’s still beating there.

And in my mind, your memory I guard with tender care.

You’ve left so much behind. I don’t know where to start.

I water your memory with my tears. You never left my heart.

You never know the emptiness or how deep and great the love

Till there’s nothing but empty tomorrows and a flower’s withered bud.

Lips that have been deserted in a world so lonesome, cold, and dark.

You took away my hopes and dreams but never left my heart.

One day down a garden path as your lips once more touch mine.

Oh, what joy everlasting when our hearts once more will bind.

Remembrances of your gentle touch will never fade or part.

But each morning, I find you waiting there; you never left my heart.

This was written the Mother’s Day after my momma passed away.

    When the Red Rose

    Turned to White

So many Mother’s Day have passed

Since I wore the red, red rose.

But those joyous days gone before

Have sadly come to a close.

    Mother, my dear sweet mother,

Oh, the years of sheer delight.

Now, this Mother’s Day, I find

The red rose has turned to white.

Many Mother’s Day I took for granted

When others wore a rose of white.

Now, I, too, must resort to memories

Of my mother so fair and bright.

If you have your mother near

    This year on Mother’s Day,

Thank God and give Him glory

And to Mother, your love display.

For one day, it may be different,

Should your world turn into night

And find on another Mother’s Day

Your rose of red has turned to white.

My Lord Jesus, up in heaven,

To my mother, these words convey.

Tell her that I love and miss her

    This year on Mother’s Day.

Tell her that I shall be listening

For the Lord and His invite.

When I make my way to meet her.

Where no roses turn to white.

Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you.

    Exodus 20:12 (NKJV)

    As the Storm Passes By

I’ve been in the valley in the cold and bitter rain.

With no hope in my heart, with sorrow and great pain.

I cried out to God at a raw and thunderous sky.

He said, I’m with you, child, as the storm passes by.

As the storm passes by, God keeps us in His care.

We don’t have to worry; He hears our every prayer.

He tells us to fear not. On faith, we must rely.

Our Lord will never leave us as the storm passes by.

I praise Jesus in the good times and also in the bad.

He gives peace without limit and makes my heart glad.

My hope and joy are restored, and each tear He will dry.

He’s with me in my need as the storm passes by.

Has grief gripped your life as dark clouds gather bout?

Trust in God’s grace and mercy; in His love, never doubt.

Speak to the tempest. Declare His great power on high.

Soon you’ll rejoice in God’s glory as the storm passes by.

Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea,‘Peace, be still!’ And the wind ceased and there was a great calm."

    Mark 4:39 (NKJV)

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

    Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV)

    Heart of Love

Lord, give me lips of boldness so I would speak Your truth.

Lord, let me live in humility so, in me, they see You.

Lord, give me a mind to serve, to lead others to You above.

But in all Your mercy and grace, give me a heart of love.

Give me a heart of love so I spread You to all I meet.

Let Your light in me grow till the day I am complete.

You’re worthy of all praise. Let it spring forth like a flood.

Thank You, Lord, for a life You blessed and for a heart of love.

So many years, I lived in waste. Thank God I saw the light.

You took away my sin and shame, and You gave me sight.

Let all that’s within me point souls to the cleansing blood.

Lord, turn this world filled with hate into a heart of love.

Lord, give my hands the strength and my feet the speed

To do Your work and will and plant in a heart Your seed.

The time that remains is short. It’s time we did our part.

And what a wondrous gift this is—Your love in each heart.

"Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on,

that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.

    Philippians 3:12 (NKJV)

"God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.

And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect.

    1 John 4:16–17 (NLT)

To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory."

    Colossians 1:27 (NKJV)

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

    Psalm 51:10 (NKJV)

    What Will I Leave Behind

When all the work is done and the last word’s been said,

When the last step’s been taken and I’ve walked where Jesus led,

Will I glance at the past, and there, what will I find?

Will I have made a difference? What will I leave behind?

What will I leave behind as the moments fade to a precious few?

Will I have been a voice for Jesus when I bid this world adieu?

Will I look to tomorrow? Not knowing, there’s no more time.

A morning will break without me; what will I have left behind?

Will I have left a moment in memories in hearts for a while?

Will someone have a thought of me, reminiscing with a smile?

Will my legacy be that he was humble, loving, faithful, kind?

Will my footsteps have led to Jesus? What will I leave behind?

Questions that others hold the answer to as I make it home.

What a glorious celebration waits, like none I’ve ever known.

How deep the love I hold? I pray I walked the path God designed.

And still, I’ll depart yet wondering. What did I leave behind?

Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; And His greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts.

    Psalm 145:3–4 (NKJV)

Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.

    Philippians 4:9 (NLT)

A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children…

    Proverbs 13:22 (NKJV)

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

    3 John 1:4 (NKJV)

    Unused

The pace of life is frantic, and it seems there’s never time

To place things in their order and do what’s on our mind.

On the table lies a Book flourishing with good news.

But in life’s haste, it keeps on lying unopened, unread, unused.

Unused in so many hands and minds, there’s untold waste.

Yet, in God’s Word, there’s hope and love and eternal grace.

All things are possible, but the source has been refused.

Oh, the victory God seeks to give lives, but it’s been unused.

One simple word, unused. God’s given us all we need.

Jesus came to give us life and to set the captives free.

If only God would answer—I’m so doubtful and confused.

As God shakes His head in wonder at the faith that’s left unused.

Life is just a vapor. This day will fade and return no more.

Don’t look back in regret at so many unopened doors.

Don’t come to end of the journey and look back broke and bruised

And find all the dreams we missed of a life that’s left unused.

I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."

    John 10:10 (NKJV)

Jesus said to him, ‘If you can believe,‘all things are possible to him who believes.’"

    Mark 9:23 (NKJV)

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointedMe To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives…

    Isaiah 61:1 (NKJV)

Yet you do not have because you do not ask.

    James 4:2 (NKJV)

    Praise God in the Night

Dancing in the storm. Singing in the driving rain.

All things are possible; that’s done in Jesus’ name.

Walking with our Savior, He gives us peace and life.

Trusting in His love and mercy, praising God in the night.

Praising God in the night. God will guide our way.

There’s power in our faith and greater when we pray.

We don’t have to understand. Give to God your every strife.

God will lead us ever higher. Praise God in the night.

Doubt is our highest enemy. Unbelief our greatest sin.

It’s God who gives the victory, but it’s up to what’s within.

In every sorrow or trouble, believe in God and His might.

He’ll turn our sorrow into joy. Let’s praise God in the night.

I’m going to dance in the storm. In the rain, I’ll sing my song.

No matter where the day may lead, my Lord walks along.

In the darkest hour of the darkest night, God will give me sight.

As I breathe, I will hope and praise God in the night.

Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; For it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful. The Lord builds up Jerusalem; He gathers together the outcasts of Israel. He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.

    Psalm 147:1–3 (NKJV)

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.

    John 16:33 (NLT)

    More than You’ll Ever Know

Oh, how much do I love you! Words fall short to say.

If I lived for a thousand years, I still could not convey.

But there’s a love greater than all, and He showed it long ago.

Jesus loves you for everlasting. More than you’ll ever know.

More than you’ll ever know. Jesus cares and gives His love.

He proved it on Mt. Calvary when He shed His precious blood.

He writes it in every soul and makes each heart glow.

How much does Jesus love you? More than you’ll ever know.

How much does it grieve our Savior when lives turn Him away?

So many choose an eternal fire rather than to kneel to Him and pray.

But in His grace and mercy, He knocks on each heart’s door.

How can we ever comprehend? More than we’ll ever know.

Eternal life He gives to all, but His name we must confess.

Oh, the joy of who believes. How greatly they are blessed!

One day at our Savior’s feet, our praises to God will flow.

How much does Jesus love us? More than we’ll ever know.

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

    Romans 5:8–9 (NKJV)

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things presentnor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God

which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

    Romans 8:37–39 (NKJV)

    God’s Grace Is Sufficient

I cried out to God in sorrow, "Lord, please take me home.

The mountain’s high, and I’m too weak. How can I go on?

Then, in a still small voice of mercy, I heard my Savior say,

My grace is sufficient, and I’m with you every day.

God’s grace is sufficient, and His love will never fail.

No matter what a day may bring or the sorrows that assail.

Trust is God’s mercy and with all your heart, believe.

God’s grace is all-sufficient, so don’t lose hope or grieve.

Sometimes the road looks dark, and you wonder, Is God there?

But He holds you in His arms and hears your every prayer.

Troubles, pain, and heartache may come to every life.

But God’s grace is there to keep us in every trial and strife.

So hold on and don’t let go. Give to God your every need.

Look to the light of God’s love. Faith is the one true key.

Walk each day with joy and peace. You’re a child of God.

God’s grace will be sufficient in every mile you trod.

And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, ‘for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’"

    2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV)

Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.

    1 Peter 5:7 (NLT)

May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord."

    2 Peter 1:2 (NLT)

So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

    Hebrews 4:16 (NLT)

Not a Stranger to His Name

I know the feeling of falling tears, pain, and fading hope.

I know the agony of coming, I thought, to the end of one’s rope.

I’ve lived a life lost and searching, with only me to blame.

Praise God I found Jesus. I’m not a stranger to His name.

I’m not a stranger to His name. He dwells within my heart.

Now I’m walking in His light; in my soul, He placed a spark.

He saved me from a wayward life full of guilt and shame.

I want to shout to the world, I’m not a stranger to His name.

The most dreadful thing in life is coming to the tragic end,

Being a stranger to Jesus Christ and dying in our sin.

But Jesus still is calling out; salvation you can claim.

How thankful you will be not to be a stranger to His name.

Life is just a fleeting vapor. Eternity is so very long.

Decide today which will it be, the right way or the wrong.

Well done, My faithful servant! will our Lord exclaim?

You’ll praise our Lord forever. You’re not a stranger to His name.

But I will reply, ‘I never knew you.‘Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’"

    Matthew 7:23 (NLT)

For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?"

    Matthew 16:26 (NKJV)

His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; ‘you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. ‘Enter into the joy of your lord.’

    Matthew 25:21 (NKJV)

    Lost in Your Memory

There’s a world of mystery that’s waiting outside my door.

But this life holds nothing for me. You’re all I’m longing for.

I wait for evening shadows when the day gives up its light.

Then my mind will hold you close. I’m lost in your memory tonight.

I’m lost in your memory tonight. I’m captured by your grace.

I’m a prisoner of your beauty. How I long to touch your face.

Oh, how I miss your tenderness. Did you know you made my life?

I travel back in remembrances. I’m lost in your memory tonight.

You walk the halls of my mind and dwell within my heart.

When your fingers touched my lips, you left a lasting mark.

You make the flowers bloom. Your kisses and stars shine bright.

Recollections flood my mind. I’m lost in your memory tonight.

I know life’s just a vapor. Soon we’ll stroll that garden of love.

Oh, the joy when our lips meet once more in our home above.

Now I’m only counting hours till you’re once more in my sight.

But until that glad reunion, I’m lost in your memory tonight.

The Lord cares deeply when his loved ones die.

    Psalm 116:15 (NLT)

    You are beautiful, my darling.

    Song of Solomon 6:4 (NLT)

    Lifter of My Head

Many days I’ve bowed my head; with bitter tears, I’ve wept.

Looking down with ebbing hope, I asked my God, What’s left?

Then with a kind and tender touch, He dried the tears I’d shed.

Praise God with my loudest voice. He’s the Lifter of my head.

He’s the Lifter of my head. He sets my feet on mountains high.

He gives my lips a song to sing. He gives me wings to fly.

Satan says, Give up. But I hear my Savior say instead,

I’m your rock and your strength. I’m the Lifter of your head.

God promised to never leave me, and this truth is mine.

I know beyond the stormy clouds, God’s light will always shine.

God holds my head up high. What have I to fear or dread?

How can I praise my Lord enough? He’s the Lifter of my head.

What sorrows do you face today and there seems to be no way?

With faith, call out to the God of love. Just believe and pray.

The trials of life we may not understand, but my God has said

He’s our comfort, shield, and joy. He’s the Lifter of our head.

I will love You, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

    Psalm 18:1–2 (NKJV)

Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me. Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah. But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

    Psalm 3:1–3 (KJV)

But you, O Lord, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high. I cried out to the Lord, and he answered me from his holy mountain.

    Psalm 3:3–4 (NLT)

    God Will Never Change

Our God is changeless, and His love will never fail.

Though the storms of life are raging, we will prevail.

Whatever the day may hold, He’s every day the same.

The Lord is our anchor. Our God will never change.

Our God will never change, and we know His Word is true.

His promises, grace, and love will each day see us through.

When in sorrow, pain, and heartache, just call on Jesus’ name.

He holds us in His hands. Our God will never change.

He’ll wipe away the tears. He listens for our prayer.

Don’t wonder. You can find Him, for He’s always there.

Though life remains a mystery, this joy we can claim.

He’ll lead us home to glory. Our God will never change.

Have faith in His Word. He’ll not have our hearts to fear.

Have peace, for you’re His child. He will give us cheer.

So don’t worry about today. Give it to God and exclaim,

Jesus dwells in my heart! My God will never change.

I am the Lord, and I do not change.

    Malachi 3:6 (NLT)

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

    John 16:33 (NKJV)
