#1 I went out as a man, and men stopped staring at me. I was shocked, but it made me realize how much I took for granted being a woman.
#2 In 2003, a guy I knew passed as a woman for a short while to see how men treated him. He found that they treated him very differently, more respectfully.
#3 I needed a name for my character. I chose the name Ned, a nickname from childhood that had long since fallen out of use, but which was intimately tied to the project at hand.
#4 I was a tomboy, and I wanted to be able to dress like a boy without getting stared at. I eventually decided to pass as a boy, and it changed my life.

What our readers think
Readers find this title to be a lazy and repetitive synopsis that does not provide a clear summary of the book. It is seen as an insult to the author's work and a waste of time for readers. The summary does not give any indication of what the book is actually about. Overall, the reviews are extremely negative and do not recommend reading this book.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5This is really poorly stupidly written. Keep saying the same sentence over and over. Very annoying
I gave it one star because zero stars are not an option - Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5It is not a summary but repeating quotes over and over again.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I really wanted a summary of this book but it’s about 5 different paragraphs written over and over. Very little idea what was actually in the book.

#1
I had my first experience passing as a man when I went out in drag. I had always wanted to try passing as a man in public, just to see if I could do it. I passed, but not many people noticed.
#2
I began thinking about passing as a man in 2003. In 2003, I watched a reality television show on the AE network called Two Men and a Woman, in which two men and two women competed to transform themselves into the opposite sex. The producers didn’t have any interest in the deeper sociological implications of the show.
#3
I wanted to be able to pass in costume in the daylight, so I decided to build a man named Ned. I got the name Ned when I was about seven. I got it because Norah is a hard name to nick, but mostly because nothing but a boy’s name really made sense when you saw what my parents were faced with in their only daughter.
#4
The nickname Ned was given to me because of my tomboyish behavior, which was also caused by my brothers being older than I was and having girls friend groups that I didn’t. It meant that I was the last one picked for kick ball, and the lousiest tagalong sister.
#5
I decided to become Ned, and I spent a lot of time and effort to make it look like I had no ass or tits. I consulted a makeup artist friend of mine, who told me about a facial hair technique that might work for me on the street.
#6
I had to be careful not to get too heavy with the stubble, as my skin is much smoother than a man’s. I bought two pairs of rectangular frames to accentuate the angles of my face.
#7
I began to transform my body by lifting weights. I consulted a trainer at my local
