#1
The writer wants us to know that Moses died but his strength hadn’t gone, which was a euphemism for sexual potency. This was to show that even though Abraham had left his family and homeland, he had still stepped out of the cycle of history.
#2
The story of Abraham is a prime example of how the writers of Genesis continued to escalate the violence between people. By the end of chapter 11, people were setting up empires to oppress the masses.
#3
When Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt, he was not just liberating a specific tribe, but answering a question that people have been asking for thousands of years: Will we always be slaves or will Pharaoh always have the power.
#4
The Bible is full of sexual euphemisms. The most famous is the line about Moses’s organ potency, which led to a discussion of the despair we all experience from time to time. It all started with a few obscure English words in the thirty-fourth chapter of the fifth book of the Bible.
#5
The Bible is a library of books written by several authors over a period of about fifteen hundred years. People made decisions about what books would be included in the Bible, and what would be excluded, based on their own beliefs and experiences.
#6
The Bible is a book about real people, writing about real struggles, in a real place at a real time. When you read it, it’s important to remember that there’s usually something else going on.
#7
In the Gospel of John, there is a story about a woman who is caught
