    Preface

Hello, everyone. I am believing God for miracles in our lives, because we are all needing God’s love to survive all of our trials, tests, and tribulations!

I am writing this book to show how God wants to play an intricate part in your life, or in other words, He wants to intervene in your life in a positive way. Prayer is the greatest Christian privilege. Just like we activate our credit cards, through prayer, God wants to be activated in your circumstances and situations. God should be our first thought, but not our last resort. Prayer is the Holy Spirit finding a desire in the heart of the Father and putting that desire in our hearts to return it in the form of a request to Him (Romans 8:26-27). These are some of my experiences as I sought God behind closed doors. Jesus returned from the wilderness after seeking God, with power. It’s just like a battery; you take it away, charge it, and then you use it. A battery is used to activate some types of machinery. In prayer, I found a replenishing, refreshing, and powerful-feeling satisfaction. I felt so overwhelmed with His presence. In this book you will find some of the results from a life of prayer, alone with God. One of my favorite songs from when I grew up is the hymn, In the Garden. It says, I come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses. I hope you find the truth and power of God in this book and that it brings meaning to your life.

    Dedications

This book is dedicated to my mother, Bennie Lee Marbly, and my father, Marshall Marbly, because of their integrity, humility, love, and compassion, and for all the people who left an indelible impression on my life. I will be eternally grateful for their example, as we are the sum total of what we have learned from all who have taught us, both great and small. I also want to give thanks for my mother and father’s devotion to the Lord and to their children, and for their constant demonstration of love, which inspired me to pursue the maximization of my potential.

To all of my family and friends who have contributed so much to my life, to help me fulfill my Lord-ordained purpose and potential.

This book is also dedicated to you, the reader.

    Acknowledgments

I am grateful for the inspiration and wisdom of men and women of God and for the transgenerational sources and roots of wisdom they have left me.

I am grateful for Lisa Warir, my niece, whose commitment to the work and vision, and her help in editing this book, that made this project possible.

I am grateful for my friend and cousin, Gladys Winters, who helped with her encouragement, and with her support.

I would also like to thank my family and friends, whose faithfulness, prayers, and patience inspired me to continue to fulfill my purpose and potential, in the Lord.

Most of all, I thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for His love, mercy, and graciousness. He has shown me grace and compassion throughout my life, and has given me His inspiration to compose and complete this book and to perform all things good and wonderful, in and through my life.

    Bibliography

    Endnotes

    Foreword

Henry begins his book by reminding us God wants to be involved in our lives on a day-to-day basis. He reminds us that God encourages us to go to Him in private prayer as a first response to our needs, not as a last resort. Henry then shares his personal experiences, which support God’s involvement in miraculous ways in his personal life.

Miracles Happen to People Like Me is a theme which Henry stresses throughout the book, by citing miracles he and others have experienced, and circumstances where God’s intervention was evident. He reminds the reader that some miracles require fasting and prayer, but healing is ultimately a divine act of God based on His divine purpose for our lives.

Henry makes it clear that salvation is the greatest miracle of all miracles. He gives a clear outline on how to become a Christian and the importance of prayer in our lives. He tells us, prayer is not a posture but an attitude of the heart.

I appreciate Henry’s balance between belief and faith and the perspective he assigns to the terms not enough faith or you need more faith. Faith is trusting God with the answer, regardless of the answer.

You will find Henry’s book to be biblically sound, informative, encouraging, and inspiring. Miracles do happen today, and Henry’s book will help you to trust God more and believe for miracles in your life.

    Introduction

Hi, my name is Henry Marbly. I will never forget growing up in Detroit, when doors were being closed. What a paradox, because behind closed doors, I was continuously praying.

Because of these doors being closed, this paradox led to greater opportunities. This caused me to utilize my gifts and explore new opportunities, such as becoming an entrepreneur. I always had the ability to draw, so I became an artist, who sold his own art. I also started an ice cream business with a truck and two carts. In a miraculous way, I began a non-emergency transportation business for the State of Michigan, and because of closed doors leading to my availability, a pastor friend of mine was able to get me hired into General Motors. I was also able to go to Central Bible College and then obtain my bachelor’s degree at William Tyndale College. As I continued to pray,
