Pattern Notes
Weave in loose ends as work progresses.
Use largest hook for all parts of couch/sofa/lounge; use medium hook for pillow roll; use smallest hook for plaid pillow.
Leave a 6-inch tail at beginning of foundation chain on all lounge pieces as a guide tail to help identify which row you have just completed (see Pattern Row Notes); weave in tail after all rows are completed.
Chain stitches on first row count as beginning foundation chain, except last chain which counts as a turning chain, unless otherwise stated.
When working stitches in beginning foundation chain, always work in back bar (see illustration) of foundation chain unless otherwise stated.
Back Bar of Chain
Slip stitches count as stitches when worked in pattern.
When sewing pieces together, sew using whipstitch (see illustration) or your preferred seaming/sewing method unless otherwise stated.
Whipstitch Edges
When working Slip Stitch Edging on ends of rows, insert hook through only 1 loop on each row end.
When working slip stitches on Joining (when joining 2 pieces together), insert hook through both loops of slip stitch, stitch or chain on first piece then through both loops of slip stitch, stitch or chain on piece you are joining to.
Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.
When making Pillow Roll, place stitch marker in first stitch of round to mark beginning of round; move marker up with each round.
Pattern Row Notes
If unsure which Pattern Row you are supposed to be working next, use the following as a guide.
Look at the last row that was completed.
1. If the last stitch worked was a slip stitch and the guide tail is on the right, you just finished Pattern Row A
and should work Pattern Row B
next.
2. If the last stitch worked was a single crochet and the guide tail is on the left, you just finished Pattern Row B
and should work Pattern Row C
next.
3. If the last stitch worked was a single crochet and the guide tail is on the right, you just finished Pattern Row C
and should work Pattern Row D
next.
4. If the last stitch worked was a slip stitch and the guide tail is on the left, you just finished Pattern Row D
and should work Pattern Row A
next.
Special Stitches
Beginning marked slip stitch (beg marked sl st): Insert hook through both lps of first sl st then through both lps of marked st, yo, draw through both sts and lp on hook.

See Pattern Row Notes.
Row A (WS): Ch 1, sc in first sl st, sl st in sc, [sc in next sl st, sl st in next sc] across, turn.
