Janine Chapman’s dossier had warned me that I should not, under any circumstances, tickle her. Something about magic and the occult.

But my interrogation of her was going nowhere and my deadline was fast approaching. I was stronger and heavier, trained in close-quarters combat. She’s a witch, Ben. It’s part of her magic.

Witch. Magic. And of course at that point I stopped listening to the young analyst who was giving me the background briefing on my next target.

The ‘she’ in his briefing was Janine Chapman though I doubted that Chapman was her real name. She was suspected of numerous crimes, most recently the attempted corruption of a defence department clerk. Apparently the clerk had access to files—highly classified files—describing several new weapons we had under development.

Chapman’s dossier indicated an uncertain nationality and murky past filled with a curious mix of good deeds and criminal enterprises. She was apparently independently wealthy though the source of her wealth was unclear. The best guess the analysts could come up with was that she was in her mid-thirties.

She was five-foot-seven inches tall and weighed a hundred and fifty pounds. That would put Chapman in the fleshy category. The photos in the file showed that her flesh was pleasantly distributed between her ample breasts, wide hips, and full thighs. She had curly black hair which came down only to her cheeks and seemed to be fuller on one side of her head. Deep brown eyes looked out above full but round cheekbones. Wide lips smiled towards the camera. All in all, a very attractive woman.

Her dossier included a flash drive which contained several videos and minute-by-minute descriptions of Chapman’s efforts to corrupt one Anthony Walker, a defence
