Dedication
This book is dedicated to my mother, Clarise Renea Adams, and my little brother, Markell Deshawn Washington. Both of you left this world prematurely, and I miss your presence every day of my life. Your lives will never be forgotten, and your impact on me will always be appreciated.
Mother, I remember the times we shared and the love you showed me. Having you as my mother made me feel like the luckiest boy in the world. The wisdom you shared with me is embedded in my heart and mind, and I hope your boy made you proud.
Little brother, we had so much fun together, from playing tackle football in our room with a pair of rolled-up socks to our secret handshake. You were an awesome little brother, and I miss you.
I am thankful for the time we shared, even though I hurt because of our time apart.
Both of you will forever be in my heart!
INTRODUCTION
The journey through life consists of unfortunate twists and turns that can potentially enable or disable you; the choice is yours. One thing is for certain in life: you have a past and present and will have a future. Some people have neglected to embrace their present and rarely enter the fullness of their future because they get stuck and imprisoned by the past. To progress in life, you must view the past as something you have graduated from rather than something that has retained you.
Interestingly, the past can be a great teacher that will prepare, build, and equip you to be the best you can be for what God has in store for you. Successful people in life are those who have learned the art of moving forward and letting go.
One of the worst things that can ever happen to you is becoming stuck in the darkness of yesterday rather than moving freely toward the light of your predestined tomorrow. The past, for some individuals, is a reminder of pain, rejection, loss, failure, and other excruciating events and emotions. However, you must always remember that nighttime is confirmation that the day has ended, and tomorrow is on its way bringing with it a ray of new sunshine.
A new day is a time of refreshing and overflowing with new opportunities designed to usher you into a greater place. Your future is bright and awaits you, but you must want it bad enough to fight through everything hellbent on stopping you. Moving forward, you must begin operating in a do whatever it takes to get it
mindset. Yesterday is gone, so
