    Dear Mr Neighbour

    (I’m sorry I don’t know your name.)

My name is Ben. I live two doors down from you. I’ve waved to you sometimes in the afternoons when Mum walks me home from school and I see you digging in your rose garden or sitting on your chair on your front porch with your cat on your lap. I’ve even said hello a couple of times.

I want to invite you to come to Christmas Dinner at our house on Christmas Day. Mum said it’s okay.

There will be lots of food. Mum always makes way too much, and you don’t have to eat anything you don’t like.

I know you live on your own and you must be sad sometimes. No one should be sad at Christmas time.

I know you like Christmas because every year you put your little tree in your front window. I remember you used to have a really big one in your window when your wife was alive, but Mum said I shouldn’t talk about that because it might make you sad again.

We’ve got a really big Christmas Tree. It nearly touches the ceiling. You might have seen Dad bringing it home the other night. He tied it to the roof of his car. It hung down so far over the back window that we couldn’t see out of it.

Now it’s in our front window and it’s all decorated. And Mum even let me put the star on the top of it. Dad had to hold me up really high. I thought I was going to hit my head on the ceiling, but I didn’t.

I’m hoping to get a bike this year from Santa. I can show it to you if you like.

Mum said don’t worry about bringing a present. But if you do, she said she’d like a pink rose from your garden so she can put it in a vase on the dinner table for everyone to see.

Please come to Christmas Dinner and don’t be sad this year.

    From

    Ben

PS Please leave your cat at home. My dog might chase it.
