About this ebook
Read aloud or sing along to a tasty weeklong trip through the Lone Star State showcasing its yummiest foods—from the award-winning singer and songwriter.
Come and eat it up! All the lucky children in Texas walk through a week of favorite Lone Star food in this colorful singsong story. On Monday it’s pan de campo, and Tuesday is time for chicken-fried steak. Chili on Wednesday, sweet onions on Thursday, and grapefruit on Friday bring young Texans to a weekend of barbecue and strudel.
Bright collage-style illustrations add a layer of visual fun to this cumulative, rhythmic adaptation of a traditional song. A “Word Menu” of terms and food facts and a recipe for pan de campo complete this tasty trip through Texas.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This story teaches about the days of the week while featuring Texas' favorite foods. It is a great way for children to learn about other states. The illustrations are not the best because they can look like different things than intended. I would read this story to pre-k-high school students. I feel that everyone could enjoy this book.
