    The Queen of May comes

Crowned by flowers, dressed in leaves,

    With Underworld roots.

    Crocus

    Snow-sky brings the winds,

Winter wants to rage and storm--

    Spring lifts up her head.

    Golden trumpets play

To announce the start of spring,

    Riffing on sun notes.

    Melting flavor, misting scent--

    Blooms open the mind.

    Dandelion

    Flower-weed gold-burst,

Laughs on lawns, can tell the time,

    Mellows into wine.

    St. John’s Wort

    Five petals appear

    To defy the gathered fog.

    They light the way back.

    Blooming people’s history.

    Petals fall, roots stay.

    With rainbow gowns, green stockings,

    Brings hope from heaven.
