About this ebook
The inspiration for the poems in this book was taken from stories in the Holy Bible, mainly from the life of Jesus, beginning with the visit of the Angel Gabriel to his mother Mary "The Annunciation." Many aspects of Jesus character are reflected in these poems, such as forgiveness, truth, self-knowledge, and peace (he was known as the Prince of Peace). The new commandment he gave his disciples before his death inspired the poem "The Greatest Commandment." The betrayal of Jesus by Judas Iscariot, one of Jesus' own disciples, was the subject of a poem and Simon Peter denying that he knew Jesus was another amazing story. Then came the Crucifixion portrayed in the poem "The Easter Tale," which was followed by the story of the Resurrection "Christ is Risen." Next was the poem about Mary Magdalene weeping at the empty tomb where Jesus' body had been laid. When Jesus appeared before her, she did not recognize him until he spoke her name - "Mary." What a moment that must have been for her! "Pentecost" was the next poem, which tells of how the disciples obeyed Jesus' command to wait for the gift of the Holy Spirit to be bestowed upon them. The crowd were amazed by the things the Disciples said and did after receiving the Holy Spirit! Some poems even came to the author during the night. Truly they were Blessings from Heaven, which became the title of this book.

Blessings from Heaven - Wendy Gelsthorpe
Take My Hand
Take my hand, Oh Lord, and guide me
On life’s path, so good and true
Ever onward, thou beside me
Strength to travel pastures new.
Take my hand, Oh Lord, and teach me
How to love thee as I should
Caring for your needy children
Giving comfort, love, and food.
Take my hand, Oh Lord, and help me
Always in a kindly way
To be gentle and forgiving
With thy lambs who from thee stray.
Take my hand, Oh Lord, and save me
From the evils of this life
Help me to resist temptation
Keep me free from harm and strife.
Take my hand, Oh Lord, and bless me
With the richness of thy love
Walk with me through light and darkness
Take me to thy throne above.
Tiny Fingers
(A Poem for Children)
Jesus loves our tiny fingers
Jesus loves our tiny toes
If we keep our love for Jesus
In our heart, it grows and grows.
Jesus loves our tiny voices
Loves to hear us sing his praise
Loves to hear our merry laughter
As we dance and skip and play.
Jesus loves us to be gentle
Jesus loves us to be kind
If we learn to help each other
All his treasures we may find.
Jesus loves us to be cheerful
As a bright and shining light
Making every pathway clearer
Shining through the darkest night.
Jesus loves our tiny fingers
Take his hand and we will see
How he loves us and he tells us
Let the children come to me!
