About this ebook

An Inside Perspective As a soldier in the army of the Lord, let us contend with the calling of the assembly so that we can rise up together against the wiles of the enemy and the spiritual wickedness in high places that is enveloping the earth in which we live. We should always possess the power of recollection, that we are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus. Have a vision implemented into your conception of what constitutes being a warrior in the kingdom of God. Having the mind-set of a warrior allows you to possess the spiritual skills needed to fulfill the call on your life into which God has positioned you. "Therefore, my brethren, be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord forasmuch as you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord," 1 Corinthians 15:58.

    Dedication

To my parents who open up a world of Christ’s love to me—

you were the vessels that God’s love came through.

    I love you always!

To my brothers and sister, growing up in New York was a blast, I will always remember the memories we made together.

From the time I started out in parochial school you have been there with my parents guiding me along the way. Georgia President, thank you for being a great Godmother, Love you always!

    Acknowledgments

Iwant to thank first of all, the Almighty One, the Maker of heaven and earth, who reigns forever!

Through the teachings of you two wonderful preachers, I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. My life has not been the same. Thank you, Bishop Robert E. Williams and Rev. P. Foust!

The Spirit of the Lord is upon you, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, and the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. Thank you, to Pastor Randy Gilbert!

    Called

W here is Susie? Where is Susie? some of my classmates, along with Mrs. Scott, sang out loud Here I am, here I am, said Susie. How are you this morning? asked my classmates. Very well, I thank you, Susie responded, and in unison, they replied, Run away, run away!

I was next in line, right behind Susie, and I was so scared that my whole four-year-old body shook. We stood in a single file, as many as my classmates could fit behind the big, black piano, while Mrs. Scott played the familiar song.

Then I hear, Where is Betty? Where is Betty? When my name was called, I froze; my legs just would not move. Suddenly, I felt a hand on my shoulder, so I turned around; and it was the teacher’s assistant gently nudging me to walk out around the piano to respond to the question. Finally, I made my way around to the front of the piano, and in a whisper, I replied, Here I am, here I am. How are you this morning? they all ask. Very well, I thank you, I so shyly replied. Run away, run away, they chimed.

I could not wait to get out of that line and take my place on my mat. You see, I was such a shy little girl that I became a recluse in my own little fantasy world. It took a whole lot of coaxing and encouraging me to participate in activities; however, Mrs. Scott was always loving and patient with me, she understood me, she saw my potential, and she knew me better than I knew myself.

I guess she would, as I was only four years old. As I look back over my life, I can see that just like Mrs. Scott and my classmates called me out from behind that big black mass of wood, I was called out as a child by God.

Actually, the Word of God says that God called (chosen) me before the foundation of the world. Just like Mrs. Scott knew me, God knew me better, even in my mother’s womb. In Galatians 1:15, Paul the Apostle stated that when it pleased God who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me by his grace to reveal his son in me, this statement wasn’t just for Paul but for all who received Jesus the Messiah and who accepted his calling to salvation.

I didn’t have a clue about what God had in store for me all these years later. God had already called those things that are not as though they were, just as he did with Abraham. For the promise that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith, as Romans 4:13 (KJV) stated.

For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect, Romans 4:14 teaches us.

So you see, children of God, you have to walk in your calling by faith, just as Abraham did according to the promise. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen, as we learn in Hebrews 11:1.

Now, I have heard a lot of people say, especially babes in Christ, that they don’t understand this scripture about faith. It seems that people only tell these baby Christians to walk in faith, but they never tell them how to do it. I can only hope to make plain the revelation of what this faith walk is all about. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Well, let me break it down for you. Let’s begin with substance.

Substance is that which stands under—kind of like a foundation of a house or building. We all know that a structurally strong and sound foundation will hold a house or building up. It is assurance of the thing expected. I am assured and convinced that my house will stand strong and not fall because the foundation on my house has substance. It is solid! God is the same. His essence or being has substance. God is all at once the highest and most enduring of all beings. He is the Most High to eternity. He is omniscience and transcendence of divine essence. God is substance, so we put our faith in God (substance).

The next thing to help you better understand this faith walk in your calling is evidence, which is proving, putting to the test, examining for the purpose of proof, being convinced. If you believe in something that has not manifested and you know without a shadow of a doubt that you will have it even though you don’t see it yet, your belief is the evidence! The evidence that my foundation is structurally sound is when there is a rainstorm or a snowstorm or even an earthquake and my house is still standing, the proof is in the putting. That’s right, I said putting. These things have not happened, but by faith and without a shadow of a doubt, I know my home will still be standing. I am putting my trust in it.

I’m guessing some of you are asking, How do you know this, Betty? Well, because in Mark 11:22–23, the Word of God says to have faith in God, and it also says to not put doubt in your heart but believe that those things which you have said and it shall come to pass, then you shall have them. Are you still with me?

Now let’s move on to, in my opinion, the most important part of this faith walk, and that would be hope, which means to trust in, wait for, look for, desire something or to expect something beneficial in the future. Expressions of hope are accompanied by prayer which will cause the one praying and calling out to God to not be disappointed. When you hope for something, you look with expectation and wait with patience. Hope is an essential part of faith, and you have to put work into it. You can’t hope for good grades if you don’t put work into it, right? You have to do your homework and study hard for a good grade. Well, the Bible says, Study to show yourself approved a workman that will not be ashamed (2 Tim. 2:15).

Here’s another thought: what if you really wanted a new car? What would you say? I hope I get that new Mercedes I prayed about. Yes, you can pray for that, but you can’t just stop there—you have to put work into it. Get a job, save up some money, and have faith in God so the car will come to pass.

So now, the substance (foundation) of your hope (trust) is the evidence (proof). The assurance of expectation is the belief that what God said will come to pass—no ifs, ands, or buts about it!

Once you finally realize that you have been called, you now have to activate your faith so you can walk in your calling. The activator has to perform a direct action in order
