About this ebook

Diamond Jackson has always been told she is a diamond in the rough, but she never felt that way. Oftentimes, she felt unworthy of such a beautiful name. It came with expectations that she just couldn't meet. Diamond never wanted to play the victim role, but she is more than comfortable playing the invisible role. Diamond never realized how much she longed for acceptance, friendship, and love. Like many young women, she knew she had a deep longing for real love but Diamond didn't understand that there is really a thin line between love and hate. Reflecting on her past, Diamond discovers how broken she really is and leans on her faith in God to mend her brokenness. This, too, shall pass, she would often remind herself, but the passing just felt like torture and defeat. Nonetheless, a little part of Diamond believed the pressures of life would create a beautiful diamond in the rough. She had to believe... Faith!

To God be all the glory, Amen. Dedicated to my family members whom I loved dearly but who have gone too soon, especially to my angel, Latasha L Andrews. I finally finished my book… I will always love you! May you all rest in peace with our heavenly Father. You’re never forgotten, always in our hearts.

    Diamond

Today is the beginning of my life. I am embarking on a new chapter and cannot wait to see the final ending. My name is Diamond Jackson. I’m twenty-seven years old and very anxious about my future. Right now, I feel on top of the world and nothing or no one can bring me down. I can see God’s abundant love overflowing in my life and making some radical changes from within the very soul of me. Changes that appear a little scary yet so exhilarating. There are so many ways I could tell you how the Lord has blessed my life, yet I chose to share my story instead. I pray that you will see God’s goodness and glorify him with me. Life is very precious and sacred to me. It passes too soon but yet contains so many lessons that molds and shapes the destiny of our lives. This is my destiny, fate, and my story.

    Secrets

I can remember all the way back to kindergarten, preschool, and just being a little chubby girl that everybody teased and made fun of. However, I’m propelled to start in the seventh grade. The year is 1988. The year when girls wore big earrings with their names in them, stone wash jeans, and Michael Jackson was still cool. It is so clear like yesterday. I can still hear my science teacher saying, You girls are so hot I can smell you at my desk. Mrs. Hopkins stood slim and beautiful like a model in front of the classroom. There is no doubt that she could have been a Nubian queen. Her complexion was so dark and lovely, and as smooth and radiant as silk. She had a short, stacked haircut like Halle Berry, but she always rocked finger waves. You need to keep your mind on science and off those boys, education is the key. Her words still echo in my head. It took a long time to understand what she was trying to teach us then. At that time, life was all about just having fun. Boys, of course, are a part of every normal girl’s life. They are the reason we wear skirts, stockings, and high heels. They made school exciting, not to mention that one boy who always stood out from all the rest. Well in my case, Aaron! Aaron Mitchell is every girl’s dream boyfriend. He was popular, athletic, smart, and extremely funny. He stood out without trying. He was tall, brown skin, with a Big-Daddy-Kane cut and juicy lips. I remember staring at him in homeroom class, hoping he would not notice. I would daydream about him talking and laughing with me. He drove my emotions wild. I loved him the minute I set eyes on him. I knew I wanted him to be mine, all mine. Diamond and Aaron forever! Unfortunately, he did not know I existed. As a matter of fact, I do not think a lot of people knew I existed either. Being popular was not
