Introduction

This book is for people who seek to discover the true meaning of life. It is based on the characteristics of light (i.e., reflection, shining, refraction, and illumination). Within the elaboration of these facets of light are in-depth truths from God’s Word that are so enriching to the life of every believer. The illustrated scripture references are good to enhance understanding and, therefore, do require a ponder-as-you-read kind of approach. Chapter 1

Discovering the Light

One never knows he/she is in darkness until they discover light. Light is an amazing thing. Once light appears, darkness disappears. Imagine yourself walking in a dark room where there is a light switch. The next thing you do is switch on the lights. What happens? Sounds a crazy question, right? It is something you do every day. But that’s exactly what happens when light appears—darkness vanishes. In an instant, it will be as if the room wasn’t dark before.

Jesus, or Yeshua in Hebrew, is known as the Unforgettable One who has been manifested as the express Word of God. "Thy word is a light unto my path" (Psalm 119:105). In as much as He is the express image of God, Jesus is the Light of the World who cannot be hidden or conquered by darkness. He is the revelation of God’s penetrating love for us that delivers us from the darkness of sin. Once you discover God’s love in Christ and fully surrender and accept Jesus as your Savior and Lord, your life will be met by this transforming light so much that He will live inside of you and become that shining light in you (Revelations 3:20).

Light is important because God’s first words during creation were "Let there be light!" (Genesis 1:3). Light is good, and its goodness hinges on how it contrasts darkness. It looks like this literal contrast is between metaphysical good and evil, God and Satan, believers and unbelievers, but it is way deeper than that. God is the absolute sovereign Creator who rules over the darkness and the powers of evil. So contrasting light and darkness falls
