About this ebook

As many have had their hope deferred, and their hearts sickened as a result, The Spirit of Acceleration offers a rekindling of that hope. The Spirit of Acceleration does, in seconds or minutes, what would normally take months or years to accomplish. Wherever the Spirit of Acceleration dawns, God quickens things up. These last days are not a time for despair, but a time for delight, demonstration, and deliverance. According to apostle Peter, it will be a time of "refreshing (and)...restitution of all things" (Acts 3:19""21). This book espouses fundamental principles that guarantee speed and strength for the last-day church before Jesus returns. In this book, God teaches believers to work with wisdom so they can be backed up by kingdom wealth and accomplish God's end-time agenda. The last-day Spirit of Acceleration is God's last push to close the age and herald the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. Only a church militant and on the move, however, can eject the enemy and get victory in life. It takes speed to shine in life and going to manifest his glory! God has saved the best for the last. A glory that is unprecedented is about to shine forth from the church, and it will herald his coming and be characterized by unusual speed and uncommon glory. That is why in Romans 9:28""30, the Bible says "He will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth...(so that)...the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith."

I dedicate this book to those all around the world who have been martyred for their Christian faith. As stated in Revelation 14:13, "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them."

More than ever before, the life of a Christian has become endangered. With more than one million Christians killed in the last ten years, at a rate of one martyred Christian every six minutes¹, the fanatical temerity with which Christians are being killed is unprecedented.

In James 5:6–7, Elder James says, "Ye (the wicked) have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you. Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain."

The precious fruit of the earth described above is God’s signature event in these last days. As Tertullian, the ancient African theologian, said, "The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church." This seed, spurred on by a fertilizer called the Spirit of Acceleration, will afford unparalleled access to the gospel and birth the greatest revival the world has ever seen.

    Though I am always in haste, I am never in a hurry;

because I never undertake any more work than

I can go through with perfect calmness of spirit.

    Acknowledgment

God inspi red this book. He gave the words and allowed me to put them in print. It, however, would not have been possible without some invaluable encouragement along the journey from those who saw value in it and spurred me on. More than anyone else, my wife of fifteen years, Rita Momah, provided a setting that encouraged and sharpened me to write.

My parents General (Dr.) and Mrs. Momah continue to inspire me with their unconditional love and steadfast loyalty to family. They have supported my outlandish projects again and again and can be relied upon for untiring camaraderie whenever I need it. My brothers and sisters—Amaka, Ada, Emeka, and Nkem—were all instrumental to this book’s completion. I cannot overemphasize the importance of their help.

I also want to acknowledge my pastors, elder and Lady Preston of Miracle Temple Jackson, Mississippi, for their support and contributions toward the success of this project. It was while leading those Wednesday night Bible study and prayer meetings that a greater portion of this book came alive and became a reality.

An individual contributed more than a proverbial village to the success of this book. Her name is Mrs. Burke. An avid Bible scholar, Sunday school teacher, retired English school teacher, and erstwhile pastor’s wife, she reviewed the book before it went to print. She identified countless grammatical errors, and even at the age of ninety, showed a spirit of excellence in her work that is second to none.

Finally, I want to thank members of Faith and Power ministries for their ardent support and steadfast loyalty. They spurred the publishing of this book with their fervent enthusiasm and spirit when I shared portions of it at our monthly Holy Ghost night meetings or in correspondence. May what you have made happen in my life be multiplied many times in yours. In Jesus’s name, amen.

    Introduction

The last day Church has been pilloried over the years as minions and lilliputians in the comity of nations by avid onlookers. They have been considered outdated and in morbid danger of extinction by modern-day neotheologians. Nothing could be further from the truth!

The last days will reveal a marked-but-masterful church. It may be persecuted, but it will be purified in the process until she is that "glorious Church not having spot or wrinkle…" (Ephesians 5:27) for which Jesus is coming.

According to Micah 4:1, a time is coming when "in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the

    Lord

shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it."

The last days are not a time for despair, but a time for delight, demonstration, and deliverance. According to apostle Peter, it will be a time of "refreshing (and)…restitution of all things…" (Acts 3:19–21) through the Spirit of Acceleration.

This book espouses fundamental principles, amidst a watching and waiting last-day church that guarantees speed and strength for her before Jesus returns. These believers work with wisdom, are backed up by kingdom wealth, and accomplish God’s end-time agenda.

    The Clarion Call for Acceleration!

    Those who debate God’s word delay destiny;

but those who do God’s word destroy devils!

    Chapter 1

    Rush but Don’t Be Rash!

"Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me. Thy children shall make haste; thy destroyers and they that made thee waste shall go forth of thee"

    Isaiah 49:17–18

To accelerate means to increase speed. It is integral, imperative and an ingredient of necessity for the last-day church if she is to fulfill her mandate of bringing back the Messiah. In 1 Peter 1:13, apostle Peter said, " [G]ird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ ."

The word used to describe the girding up one’s loins is the Greek word anazonnumi, and it means to take out the slack, get ready to move quickly, or arrive somewhere without delay. It connotes a man getting ready to run a race and who pulls his garments in typical medieval Middle-eastern culture between his legs in order to run his race more efficiently and effectively.

This word, anazonnumi, is again used in Luke 12:35–36. It says, "Let your loins be girded about; and your lights burning; And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately" (emphasis added).

In the last days, more than at any other time, a church without a sense of urgency will be jettisoned. The servant to whom Jesus said "open unto (the master) immediately (Luke 12:36) did not say in his heart My lord delayeth his coming and…begin to smite his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken" (Matthew 24:48–49).

Rather, the servant who is blessed and profitable opens the door quickly, and so Jesus "girds himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them" (Luke 12:37). This parable is a picture of the last-day church. Without a quickening from the Spirit of Acceleration, the last-day church will end as quacks with no quality to show the world.

Breaking a Last Day’s Slowness of Heart to Believe

The Spirit of Acceleration does, in seconds or minutes, what would normally take months or years to accomplish. For example, after Jesus rose from the dead, he exposed and extrapolated his messianic stories from all the books of the Bible to the two disciples on the road to Emmaus.

The Bible says, in Luke 24:27, that Jesus "beginning at Moses and all the prophets…expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself; But their eyes were holden that they should not know him" (Luke 24:16).

Within minutes, however, after the breaking of the bread in Luke 24:30, these disciples had "their eyes…opened, and they knew him (Luke 24:31). What three years of constant teaching, anointing, and deliverance by Jesus did not accomplish because they were slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken" (Luke 24:25), the resurrected life of Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit revealed.

Wherever the Spirit of Acceleration dawns, God quickens things. He said in Romans 8:11 that "if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you." He (the Spirit of God) does not slow things down but rather speeds them up!

    All Things Do Not Continue

The last days are not business as usual. The world thinks all things will continue as it has always been, but the last days will be different. In 2 Peter 3:3–4, apostle Peter tells us "that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation."

In utter disregard to the skeptics, naysayers, and filibusters of end-time prophecy, God will speed up his judgment in the last days. In Ezekiel 12:24–25, the Bible says "there shall be no more any vain vision nor flattering divination within the house of Israel. For I am the

    Lord…I

will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall be no more prolonged: for in your days, O rebellious house, will I say the word, and will perform it, saith the Lord

    God."

It was that same prophetic atmosphere that caused Pelatiah’s death! In Ezekiel 11:13, the Bible says "it came to pass, when I (Ezekiel) prophesied, that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died…. When David was caught in dire straits and cried out to God in 2 Samuel 22:7–11, God bowed the heavens…and came down…(and) rode upon a cherub, and did fly: and he was seen upon the wings of the wind." God’s response to David’s cry was swift, not sluggish! That same God will answer his church today with speed.

In the last days, vengeance will occur rapidly. Apostle Peter says in 2 Peter 2:1, "there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction." It is this swiftness of judgment that will characterize the last day Spirit of Acceleration.

The God of judgment will upturn a lethargic and lackadaisical church into a powerful, prosperous, and peaceful church. The old adage that says "Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil (Ecclesiastes 8:11) will be cast into the dust heap of history. It will be a new day characterized by the day of vengeance of our God…For I the

    Lord

    love judgment…" (Isaiah 61:2, 8).

    Louisiana Let-go!

I was relieved of my job unceremoniously after seven months of working diligently in Louisiana. I was devastated, and saw no reason for the termination. I had a J1 waiver visa, and to get another job, I needed multifaceted intervention from Homeland Security and United States Customs and Immigration Service (USCIS). I also needed a letter from my then estranged employer, stating my discharge was due to extraneous circumstances. Lastly, I needed an immigration attorney to handle the case expeditiously.

As I pondered on my next step, God directed me to a program going on in my church called the Louisiana Outpouring. During the prayer sessions, the Holy Spirit spoke to me. He said God would give me another job in twelve weeks, and he would sustain me until then. I tried to bargain with the Holy Spirit, asking him to reduce it to four to six weeks, but to no avail.

I went for an interview soon afterward and was offered a job at a facility near Alexandria, Louisiana, USA. I could not start, however, because there were a litany of immigration hurdles to cross, and the timeline to starting was deemed infinite by my attorney.

At exactly twelve weeks, however, I drove to my new employer dressed and ready to work. I had still not received the requisite work permit visa from the USCIS, but acting on faith, drove an hour and a half expecting to start work. On arrival, I found out that the documents had arrived over the weekend and that I was eligible to work. I returned home, and to my wife’s delight, I told her I had completed my first day at work. God, eventually, moved me from that job and granted my wife and I green card status in record time.

    Patient Pursuits

Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom and great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake. And it
