Introduction
Jason Reynolds' Ghost
was released on August 30th, 2016. It is a young adult novel that was highly acclaimed by literary circles around the world. The book made it to the New York Times' best-seller list. It was also a finalist for the National Book Award for Young People's Literature.
When the book was published, most of the reviews by critics, news organizations, and magazines were highly positive. In her review for the New York Times, Kate Messner said, In his title character, Reynolds has created a protagonist whose journey is so genuine that he's worthy of a place alongside Ramona and Joey Pigza on the bookshelves where our most beloved, imperfect characters live.
Most libraries in the world received this book very admiringly and gave it a place in their collections for their readers. The book was also recommended to students in schools and colleges. Kirkus, the New York Public Library, Publishers Weekly, School Library Journal, the New Atlantic Independent Booksellers Association, and the Center for the Study of Multicultural Children's Literature named it one of the best books of 2016.
Chapter 3
Summary in Brief
Castle Ghost
Cranshaw, a 12-year-old boy, is the protagonist and narrator of the story. As the story begins, he happens to be talking about those who are his favorites with Mr. Charles. Both of them are in a local convenience store. Mr. Charles is the owner of that store.
In that store, Castle purchases a bag of sunflower seeds. It is usual for him to come to the store to buy these seeds. With the bag of seeds, he goes to the school's running track, where he eats them and watches other middle school children run.
