Ruminations

RUMINATIONS is an anthology of the flash fiction stories I wrote during my first year at film school; most of the stories center around significant moments in everyday lives.

"Meeting" describes the precise moment a couple unknowingly started down the path toward marriage: a chance encounter in a laundromat.

"CACO" explores the thoughts of a Navy sailor as he prepares to tell a mother and father that their son or daughter has died in service of their nation. It is written as a study of narration through sensory detail.

The stories "Clara," and "Confirmation" both deal with relationships - one telling the story of the ending of an extramarital affair, the other the beginning of another such affair...and the subsequent crumbling of a marriage.

RUMINATIONS allows readers to engage with a gambit of human emotion - from love and loss to excitement and dread - without the lifelong consequences of having lived those moments. Take the journey today!

Jack Passananti is a screenwriter specializing in speculative fiction. He is pursuing a BFA in Creative Writing from Full Sail University, where he is currently serving as Vice President of the Creative Writing Club. Jack has spent the past six months working with Caution Ready Games to develop 5 episodes of a web series based on their forthcoming video game Frontier Planets. Jack’s obsession with orthography and phonology have led to his development of several conlangs, including one with a 300-word dictionary and grammar guide.

About This Book

Ruminations is a collection of flash fiction pieces I wrote for school during my first year at Full Sail University. Each of the stories had specific guidelines, focusing on a different area of creative writing. While we were only asked to submit three stories for this collection, I felt that including every story I did that year would give the best indication of where my writing was at the time.

My only regret is not including the short scripts that I wrote for the school year as developing screenplays is where my passion lies.
